Great presentation from Andrew Eldridge at Ridge Electrics ⚡

Andrew, a commercial electrician, spoke about the use of thermal imaging to identify electrical faults before they become bigger problems.

Thermal imaging can detect temperature irregularities and unusual thermal signature patterns, which is especially valuable in manufacturing sites and commercial environments where downtime can be costly.

Andrew also explained how issues like arcing, overheating, fire risks, and other electrical hazards can develop if faults are not found early.

A great insight into how modern electrical testing helps improve safety, reliability, and preventative maintenance.

Kevin shared some impressive insights into his business, including that 98% of his clients come through word of mouth, backed by over 120 five-star Google reviews.

With more than 3,500 inspections completed to date, Kevin brings experience, detail and Australian Standards reporting to every property inspection.

He also reminded us that every property is different — and as an inspector, he is paid to find faults before they become someone else’s costly problem.

Great presentation from Ash Gardiner at ACG Electrical ⚡

Ash shared that ACG Electrical has recently moved premises to Cheltenham, and spoke about the growing world of home automation.

From Siri, Google, voice control and app-based systems, home automation can make everyday living more convenient, secure and efficient.

Ash covered a wide range of possibilities including lighting, security, access control, audio visual, heating and cooling, blinds and curtains, garden systems, pools and spas.

He also explained how systems can be programmed around daily routines — like arriving home, leaving home, or setting schedules throughout the day.

A great reminder that electrical work today is not just about power points and switches — it’s about creating smarter, safer and more connected homes.

A great presentation from Aaron Dalm at Dalm & Co Roofing 🏠

Aaron gave us a hands-on look at roofing, even bringing in props to show different types of roof tiles, ridge caps, rusted valleys, and other common roofing components.

He explained important parts of roof maintenance, including bedding and pointing, storm seal, Wakaflex flashing, and how roof tiles can absorb water over time, become brittle, or grow moss.

It was also great to hear that the Dalm & Co Roofing team is growing, now with 4 team members plus Nala!

A great reminder that what happens on your roof can have a big impact on the protection and longevity of your home.

Great presentation this week from **Robbie Ates at Ates Insurance Solutions**

Ates Insurance Solutions is a family business that has been operating for **35 years**, originally founded by Robbie’s father.

Robbie shared an important reminder that insurance brokers work **for you — not the insurer**.

He spoke about the issue of **underinsurance**, where people may have cover in place, but not enough to properly protect them when something goes wrong.

This can happen when people “set and forget” their insurance, underestimate the value of what they own, or leave out important items that should be included in their cover.

Robbie also highlighted that many people still don’t have home insurance at all — which can leave families exposed when unexpected events happen.

A great reminder to review your insurance properly and make sure your cover actually matches your needs.
