There’s something about the eve of Anzac Day that makes you pause…
Not just to remember—but to really feel the weight of the stories that have been passed down through families.

I’ve grown up hearing them.
My mum’s dad…
swapping places in the trench for a cigarette…
only to watch his mate lose his life moments later.

A great uncle…
who carried more than anyone could see…
and eventually couldn’t carry it anymore.

And you start to wonder—
how much can one person hold?

The trauma.
The loss.
The things they saw… that we’ll never fully understand.

Yet because of them…

we get to come home.
We get to sit around the table with our families.

We get to build businesses, communities, and lives that feel safe.

That’s not something I take lightly.

As an ambassador for The Rising Sun Charitable Trust, I’m reminded that remembrance isn’t just about looking back…
It’s about how we show up now.

How we support those who are still carrying the impact of service.

How we create connection, understanding, and community for those who need it most.

Lest we forget.

If this message resonates, take a moment tomorrow…
not just to remember—but to reach out, check in, and connect.

There’s something about putting on a headset that makes it all feel a little more real… and a little outside my comfort zone.

Not my usual look but maybe that’s the point.

Saying yes to things that stretch you.
Sharing the stories that don’t always get told.
The messy middle, the lessons, the moments that shape how we show up in business and life.

Grateful to jump on the mic with Late Start Advantage and have a real conversation about what it actually looks like behind the scenes.
Because most of us didn’t start with a perfect plan…
We just started.

And figured it out along the way.

šŸŽ™ļø Have you ever said yes to something that felt a bit uncomfortable… but turned out to be exactly what you needed?

Can I confess something?

I’ve had a little eye twitch this past weeks over emails šŸ˜‚

You send three clear questions.

The reply comes back…

And only one is answered.

Or it’s a beautiful paragraph that somehow avoids the actual thing you needed.

And then you’re back in your inbox explaining it again.

I caught myself feeling frustrated and then thought…

This isn’t really about admin.

It’s about feeling heard.

When someone doesn’t respond to what you’ve asked, even accidentally, it creates that tiny disconnect.

And connection is built (or chipped away) in those tiny moments.

Not in the big stuff.

In the reading properly.
In the answering clearly.
In slowing down long enough to think, ā€œHave I actually addressed this?ā€

In our world, time is tight. Everyone’s juggling.

But clarity is kindness.

And kindness builds rapport.

This week I’m practising one small thing:

Before I hit reply, I read it again and check I’ve answered every point.

That’s it.

Small shift. Big difference.

Tell me… what email habit drives you nuts? šŸ˜…

Happy first day of Autumn!
Here's your reminder šŸ“†

A quiet little nudge to check in… and remind you to pop a 1st of the month reminder in your calendar.

This photo was taken the morning after a 12-hour surgery.
I sent it to Phil so he knew I was okay… and yes, maybe to show off the new b***s too šŸ˜…

But underneath the humour was deep gratitude.
Relief.
And the reality that things could have been very different.

My cancer was NOT picked up in a mammogram.
Only ductal cancer in my right breast showed up in an ultrasound.
Lobular cancer in my left breast was found by chance during an MRI.

That’s why I share this.

Self-care isn’t just bubble baths and boundary setting.
It’s being brave enough to pay attention.
To feel what feels different.
To follow up.
To advocate for yourself.

And this isn’t just for the ladies.
Fellas… you need to be proactive with your health too.

This month, check in.

If something feels off, check it out with your GP.

Early action can change everything.

First of the month.
Full self-care checkin

First of the month = .

is about early detection — and that includes noticing stress before it turns into burnout or illness.

Your body gives clues long before it waves red flags.

Tight jaw. Poor sleep. Short fuse. Foggy head.

Stress has a sneaky way of showing up physically when we ignore it long enough.

So today’s reminder is simple:
āœ”ļø Do your check
āœ”ļø Take a breath
āœ”ļø Notice what your body’s been trying to tell you

Because stress affects everything — hormones, digestion, sleep, immunity, mood… the list goes on.

Nothing to fix. Nothing to perfect.
Just a moment of awareness as you step into a new month.

Your body’s always communicating.

Today’s a good day to listen.

Today’s plan was simple.
Finalise a few invoices.
Map out our next six-week cycle.
Tick off the things that move the business forward.

Then the inbox started blinking.
A call from the team.
A people issue that couldn’t wait.

Cue the quiet switch of hats. šŸ“‹āž”ļøā¤ļø
Out went finance brain.
In came HR, support, sounding board, steady-the-ship mode.

If you’re the woman behind a trade or building business, you’ll know this rhythm well. The juggle. The constant recalibration. The days where your priorities slide so the business and the people can keep moving.

It can be frustrating… and it can also be deeply meaningful. Both things can be true.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
And you don’t have to carry it quietly.

Join us for our next Ladies Behind the Tradies Lunch
šŸ“… Wednesday 25th February

No awkward networking.
Just a warm, welcoming table of women who get the juggle.

Just us, the coastline, and a little reminder of what really matters šŸ’›šŸŒŠ

After the conference in Manly, Phil and I have slowed down long enough to just be. No emails (okay maybe a few). No to-do list. Just time to laugh, talk, and remember why we started all this in the first place.

Running a family business can be incredibly rewarding — but it can also blur the lines between love and logistics. That’s why taking time together matters. Because behind every strong business is a relationship that needs space to breathe, dream, and reconnect.

It’s the same reason I started — to help others in the building industry feel supported, seen, and celebrated (especially the incredible ladies behind the tradies who keep things running smoothly behind the scenes šŸ’ŖšŸ’›).

When we make time to fill our own cup, we show up better — for our teams, our families, and our communities.

So here’s to slowing down, soaking it in, and remembering that connection — in business and in life — is what keeps it all together.

🌸 Five Years Cancer Free 🌸

It’s the first of the month time for your reminder and this one feels extra special. This month marks five years cancer free.

My second cancer wasn’t visible on an ultrasound or mammogram it was revealed through a pre op MRI a larger, unseen cancer that could have gone unnoticed. Early detection and a successful double masectomy that left clear margins saved me from Chemo and Radiation.

Another five years of medication? A small price to pay for the gift of time, love, and connection. For mornings that start with purpose and people who make life rich.

Here’s what I want to remind you:
So many of our health challenges are linked to stress, diet, and environment. The things we think we can push through until we can’t. We get so caught up in responsibilities, business, and caring for others that we forget to care for ourselves.

This month, be intentional.
Set your boundaries.
Prioritise your health.
Lock in time for self-care like it’s a non-negotiable meeting.

And please, do your check.
Get to know your body every lump, bump, and change. Don’t ignore what doesn’t feel right.
Because the truth is, early detection can minimises treatment and saves lives and you are too important to overlook.

šŸ‘€ What to look for:
• A new lump in your breast or underarm
• Thickening or swelling of part of your breast
• Irritation, dimpling, or redness
• Changes in ni**le shape, skin, or discharge
• Any new pain or difference in size or shape

If in doubt check it out with your GP.
Your body is speaking.

I'll keep reminding you every month to pause, check in, and prioritise what truly matters.
