The temporary fuel excise relief officially ended at midnight on August 2, 2026.

The full tax rate returned to about 53.7 cents per liter, adding roughly 16 cents per liter back onto wholesale prices and pushing retail averages back up toward or past $2.00 a liter.

That accounting software cost you keep avoiding? It's costing you more than you think.

I see business owners cutting corners on accounting software to save a few bucks a month, then losing hours (and money) to manual errors, missed deductions, and messy books.

Here's what good software actually gets you:
βœ… Fewer errors (no more manual data entry mistakes)
βœ… Automatic expense tracking
βœ… Real-time view of cash flow and profit
βœ… Faster tax time as everything's already organised
βœ… More deductions caught, not missed
βœ… Hours back in your week

Good software isn't an expense. It's leverage.

It's not a loophole, it's an actual strategy for people with a multiple property portfolio.

If one property (bought after 12 May 2026) is running a loss, you CAN still offset it β€” but only against income or gains from your OTHER residential properties. Not your salary. Not any other income source.

πŸ“Œ The takeaway: If Property A is cash flow positive and Property B is negative, A's income can absorb B's loss. Excess losses carry forward too.

It's a portfolio-level game now, not a standalone one.

Well it's not a loophole, but an actual strategy for people with a multiple property portfolio.

Tax strategy: Got multiple properties? Here's how the new negative gearing rules actually work 🏠🏠

If one property (bought after 12 May 2026) is running a loss, you CAN still offset it but only against income or gains from your other residential properties, not your salary or other income sources.

So if Property A is cash flow positive and Property B is negative, A's income can absorb B's loss. Excess losses carry forward too.

It's a portfolio-level game now, not a standalone one. Save this if you're building a property portfolio πŸ‘‡

The 4 Pillars Keeping Your Business Alive

Margins - Revenue means nothing if you're not keeping enough of it. Know your numbers.

Sales - Demand for your service/product and people willing to pay for it.

Process - The engine behind the scenes. If it breaks when you're not looking, it's not a system.

Cash Flow - Profitable on paper β‰  money in the bank. Timing is everything.

Master these 4, and you're not just running a business, you're building one that lasts. πŸ’ͺ
