Dealing with overwhelming fear can be difficult but the solution is often simple. Not neccessarily easy but it is simple.

This is so heartening! No matter where we started we can change where we're going. The problem with too many people is that they choose a career when they're 15 or 19 and wonder why it doesn't give them the same excitement when they're 40.

Each day we get to revise where we're headed, make corrections or take a whole new route.

We really are in control of our futures.

This is what I have learned from a life of making innumerable choices, some helpful, some not so helpful. They apply in business, career and life.

Networking is important to business especially when you are moving to a new city but to be honest I do get turned off by the photos of perfect millennials even though the blurb says open to all. This group of women seem more my style [and age]. Is your marketing aimed to your focus group or is it so general it turns people away? Worth thinking about.

Looking forward to being with like minded people.

The hardest thing to do sometimes is the thing you encourage others to do. I've thought about it and I think the reason is that by encouraging others we demand perfection of ourselves when we attempt to do the same. I keep putting off doing something I may consider imperfect. But the result is worse.

So here I am warts and all. What holds you up from personal success?

26/07/2017

You have the choice to be confident.
You have the choice to be happy.
You have the choice to be successful.

You also have the choice to be a door mat.
You have the choice to allow others to rule your life.
You have the choice to be angry or sad

Eleanor Roosevelt said "No-one can make you feel inferior without your permission."

I believe that. Completely.

People put us down all the time. Taking away our power; making us do what they want us to do. Making us unhappy. Life is just not fair. We try but we just have to accept that some people will always have the say so. There's nothing I can do about it. That's the way it is.

Rubbish!

Some people will always try to take control; but it is up to us whether they have it or not.

Each and every person has the ability to keep control of their lives. When others walk all over us we can stop them in their tracks…. If we choose.

It isn't easy but it's doable and it starts by taking control of yourself.

You are your own worst enemy because each day, each hour you give away your power. It is mainly by the way we talk to ourselves, our mental language. Some people call them parent tapes and end up living in those tapes and blaming parents. But I think over the years they can become even harsher, our expectations of ourselves getting lower and lower - our adult tapes.

We blame what was and what might never be. We do things all the time that we don't want to do but we do them because they are necessary to the ultimate efficiency or comfort of the situation.

You choose to make mistakes and to learn.

You choose to give love and to allow others to love you.
You choose to be positive or negative.
You choose your attitude and your responses.

Because you control your thoughts, your decisions, you have the power to control your life. Even if you think you don't, you do. If you allow others to make choices for you… that is your choice. Rather than abdicating, take responsibility.

Take control of your life. Dream, hope, desire but above all begin today...

As small business owners wanting to create a substantial income or solve problems, we are own worst enemy. Our limiting thinking stops us from succeeding.

As a small business educator I meet would be entrepreneurs who limit their possibilities. It is so easy to do. I know because I do it all the time. I know better. I know about all the shortcuts, secrets, hints and tips to business success. I know how the mind keeps regurgitating the negative every time we are on the road to achieving.

We are afraid that we might succeed and we just can't cope, so out come all the negatives, the procrastination, the perfectionism. Yes, perfectionism is a subconscious strategy to not succeed. Don't confuse that with excellence. Perfectionism is saying "I have to do this before the other can be done properly." Then we don't get 'this' to the stage where we are happy with it so 'the other' never happens to the degree it could. [Case in point - I wrote this original blog in September 2016.]

So whatever you are doing to hold yourself back? Stop it.

Just take the first step. Now.

The thing is,

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves - who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and famous?
Actually, who are you not to be?"
