Sometimes the most important part of our work is simply creating a space for people to come together and yarn.

Through our workshops we invite people to slow down, listen, reflect and learn through a First Nations First lens. These conversations are not about having all the answers, but about continuing the journey of understanding.

We are grateful to everyone who continues to sit in these spaces with openness and respect.

Ngiyambalgarra had the privilege of facilitating a First Nations First Approach workshop with the amazing team at SSI (Settlement Services International).

Together, we explored what it means to place culture at the heart of our work, shifting from western ways of doing into a space of yarning, listening, and walking alongside community.

Workshops like these create safe spaces for reflection, growth, and truth-telling, helping organisations strengthen their cultural capability and ensure that services are delivered with respect, integrity, and inclusiveness.

A big thank you to SSI for the invitation and to all participants for their openness and commitment to building culturally safe futures.

This week, our Director, Louisa Whettam, accompanied by Denise conlon was honoured to travel and speak at the Many Rivers Conference.

It was a powerful opportunity to share Ngiyambalgarra’s First Nations First Approach, weaving cultural knowledge, leadership, and community voices into the conversations that matter most.

Being part of this national gathering reminded us of the strength that comes from truth-telling, collaboration, and cultural connection. We are proud to walk alongside partners and communities who are committed to building safe, strong, and culturally grounded futures for our jarjums, families, and leaders.

It was a privilege to deliver the First Nations First training with exceptional individuals from SSI who acknowledged the truth telling of Australia’s history and First Nations Peoples culture. The discussions were refreshingly authentic and beautiful, and Ngiyambalgarra have gained valuable allies who will walk alongside us. Thank you for having us and we look forward to working together again.
