💫 Final Good Bye from the Executive Committee

Yesterday the MBWC donated all remaining funds held with the club to the Mareeba Meals on Wheels, Chamber of Commerce and Hospital Foundation. This was our final get together as a club as it has now officially closed. We would like to thank everyone for their support over the years.

📝IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT.

On the 15th March Mareeba Business Women's Club Inc held a general meeting at the Gateway. This meeting was to hopefully fill vacant positions of the Excutive committee. Unfortunately this did not happen and as President I had to make the sad choice of making a motion to dissolve this lovely club. Within the next 4 weeks we must pay all outstanding accounts as well refund membership that had been recently paid and to distribute assets which is whatever is in the clubs bank account which has been suggested to disperse to several charities within Mareeba. A 9a form of Resolution and all other documents shall be then sent to the Department of Fair Trading.

On behalf of the excutive committee members and members past and presents since the club re - forming in 2017, I wish to say thank you to everyone. It was a great club with lots of memories of the many wonderful events, speakers and interesting meetings. I wish everyone well in the business world and in your personal life.

This we’re celebrating women who are making a difference to the mental wellbeing of others. Get to know the winners of the 2021 Blackmores Mercie Whelan Women+Wellbeing Awards 👇

Meet Margie Bestmann 👋 After losing her husband to su***de in 2016, Margie saw the need to build awareness of mental health in her local community.

In the past five years, she has created a hub to connect with others via a local support group, and enabled education with regular mental first aid courses. Margie also led the creation of a ‘Health and Wellbeing’ hub at the biannual Nth QLD Rotary Field Day, where information on mental wellbeing and free men’s health checks are offered to the 24,000+ attendees.

You’ll also find her regularly speaking at school assemblies, to ensure our youth are equipped with information to support themselves, family of friends who may be impacted by mental health.
