So, just what is success?

I’ve heard many definitions, but the simplest explanation is setting and achieving your goal/s. In 1956 Earl Nightingale wrote and recorded “The Strangest Secret” bear in mind that this was written in a very different world; however, the essence of what he was trying to convey explained it beautifully;
“I’ll tell you who the successful people are. A success is the school teacher who is teaching school because that’s what she wanted to do. The success is the woman who is a wife and mother because she wanted to become a wife and mother and is doing a good job of it. The success is the man who runs the corner gas station, because that’s what he wanted to do. The success is the successful salesman who wants to become a top-notch salesman and grow and build with his organisation.
A success is anyone who is doing deliberately a predetermined job because that’s what he decided to do deliberately.
But only 1 out of 20 does that.”

The secret of success is that there is no secret to success.

If you own a business or are considering starting your own business, you want to know how to become a success in that business.

No one goes into business to fail or struggle to make it work. Unfortunately, many budding entrepreneurs don’t even know what real success looks like or how to achieve it solidly.

Being a successful entrepreneur is not necessarily about the number of zeroes in your bank account or whether you can retire at 65. It’s about deciding what success means to you, having clear cut goals and knowing what the steps are to get you there, what makes you focused in your personal life and your chosen field so you can build a business that is booming.

STOP PROCRASTINATING
Make sure you are not putting off decisions because you’re worried about making the right one.

Here are some hints to help you make routine decisions more easily.

[ ] Many decisions will make themselves if you are clear about your objectives.

[ ] Set out the pros and cons in 2 columns on a single sheet of paper. Writing them down ensures that you have identified all factors. If you are honest and do not bias the list, the correct decision will often be clear to you at the end of the exercise.

[ ] Look at the problem from a different point of view. What would be the greatest authority to do in these circumstances?

[ ] Find out if someone else has found the answer to your problem. Or ask someone who has been in a similar predicament and has already worked out the answer.

[ ] Try spinning a coin. You’ll find it concentrates your mind. If it produces the answer you want, you’ll accept it. If produces the answer you don’t want, you’ll overrule it.

[ ] Once the decision has been made , don’t waste time worrying about what might go wrong.

We live in a rapidly changing, precarious time, especially for business. According to the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) 143,000 small businesses contribute to South Australia’s economy, generating 5.5% growth and nearly 18,000 jobs each year.

Stop trying to sell!

The problem for many salespeople is that they are under pressure to sell and therefore end up trying hard to sell which a lot of times will create an negative situation!
If you have been trying hard to sell, STOP IT… STOP IT right now, this instant and never ever do it again!

Right now, today stop selling to people and instead start looking at fixing their problems, become a problem solver who can offer a solution for your customers/prospects problems.

Be a problem solver! In fact be a fantastic problem solver, offer real help and you will never have a problem selling again.
