Anyone for wedding cake?
Is it really a wedding if you didn’t have a trad wedding cake the size of a small island ? 😅
I remember you could count on one hand the guests that would eat the fruit cake, but it was tradition, and there’s an element of guilt, upgrading to new ways, and ideas. 🤔
It’s so much easier sticking with the ‘safe zone’ of tradition.
Changing things up, leaves much room for conflict, and different opinions. Splits between those who’ll embrace modernity, and innovation, and those who struggle with change.
Understanding how we respectfully, and consciously support change, across generations, is key.
I mean, there’s no way I would convince Maureen (Mum) that the old school fruit cake wrapped in marzipan, wasn’t getting a look in, at a wedding, and who am I to burst her bubble? 😅
Traditions are there to be respected.
A nod of thanks to our past.
And there’s no harm in keeping traditional methods alive, in parallel to modern day practices.
Also, no harm in embracing modern, inclusive, practices, that explores the ways in which everyone gets a look in.
I didn’t get to see this cake creation on the day. It was such a hit with the young-en’s, it vanished before I remembered to have a look!
