The number one issue I am asked to explain is “what tress can I have within the 1200 mm clear span or 900 mm non climb zone”?
The best advice and guidance available from the Australian Standards states;
Vegetation / shrubs / trees within the 1200 mm clear span or 900mm non climb zone are permitted if it would not hold the weight of a young child (>30kg), do not provide an aid for climbing, is prickly, spiky or irritating or if large branches are present they would be impracticable for a young child under 5 to access due to the outer foliage being dense, prickly, spiky, irritating or unable to hold the weight of a young child.
