I believe there is something very special about designing and buildi
ng things like cabinets and joinery. In this day and age where technology rules everything, craftspeople are becoming more and more unique and sought after. For the first part of my working life I was a craftsman working long hours trying to create a name for myself while struggling with the balance of business and family. Long hours in the business while missing some of my son’s life events in the hopes the business will create a better life for us down the road somewhere. Sadly, for some, that better life from the business never happens. It is not something that just happens. You must take specific well planned steps towards this goal and most likely, you will need to learn how to do this just like going through an apprenticeship for business
For me, I was fortunate to have been guided by some of the best people in the industry who taught me how to not only create great products, but also how to create a great business. My life goal now is to pass this knowledge on to other so you can have the lifestyle you want from the effort and risk of operating your business. Cabinetmakers and joiners have these incredible abilities to create beautiful products but tend to lack some core business skill to make the business as successful as it should be.
