Beautiful Matronalia offering by for Sophia & Chris’ wedding day.
Can’t wait to share more from this beautiful day, a merging of Italian and Greek heritages.
In throat Kitchens’ words:
Sophia and Chris wanted a pre-dinner offering for their wedding that incorporated their respective Greek and Italian heritage. When Rome took over Ancient Greece they merged many of their deities - Zeus became Jupiter, Aphrodite became Venus, etc. Hera, who became Juno to the Romans, was the goddess of marriage. Her feast day was called Matronalia where people would make offerings at Juno’s Temple for long marriages. Matronalia was celebrated at the start of March like Sophia and Chris’ wedding so these tables were an attempt at a temple offering for Matronalia.
