Jacinta di Mase Management Literary Agency committed to quality books that engage, entertain, and inspire. Representing writers and illustrators across a diverse range of genres

With more than 20 years experience in the book industry, Jacinta di Mase started her own agency in 2004. The agency is committed to the creation of quality books that engage, entertain, and inspire. Agency staff have a good track record for spotting works with commercial potential and working with creators to maximise that potential. We represent writers and illustrators across a diverse range of genre including picture books, young adult fiction, and fiction and non-fiction titles for the adult trade market. Jacinta di Mase has a background in book selling and publishing, and worked for ten years in two of Australia’s premier literary agencies: Australian Literary Management (ALM), and Jenny Darling & Associates. She graduated with distinction from the RMIT Graduate Diploma of Editing & Publishing (1996). Jacinta is the President of the Australian Literary Agents’ Association (ALAA), an Australia Council for the Arts Visiting International Publishers Program selection committee member, and the ALAA representative for the Book Council of Australia (BCA)

Now, more than ever a writer needs an agent. Publishing is in a constant state of flux with new technologies presenting radical changes to old publishing models. Editors leave publishing houses; Publishing houses are sold, or taken over, or sometimes abandoned. A writer needs a buffer to protect them during times of change. An agent knows the publishing industry and can offer this protection. An agent is in the industry at the ground level; an agent is there for the writer.

JdM - assemble!

Jacinta was thrilled to be able to attend the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book Awards at the State Library of NSW (Danielle Binks was an apology as she had school-talks to attend back in VIC!)

She got to catch up with shortlisted and honour JdM authors Sandy Bigna, Michelle Scott Tucker and Briony Stewart (Margot McGovern, Lyn White and Aaron Fa’aoso were all apologies too!)

And to take a sneaky photo 📸 of the CBCA 2026 shortlist fam-bam!

‘Shakespeare in the Orchard’ review; “As the twin stories – of Hamlet rehearsals and the real-life drama playing out in Langwarrin – unfold, Jack learns ‘to thine own self be true’ and begins to understand that being strong can mean daring to disagree with the mob, and that showing compassion can be a strength, rather than a weakness. This is a terrific book. For ages 10+.”

And;

‘Joey and the Junjardy’: “Joey also has to navigate relatable problems: he has a huge fight with his sister, tries to make a new friend, and must contend with a horrible bully, all while trying to manage the Junjardy and really find himself. His humour and heart are charming and will endear him to readers. This book is perfect for readers who enjoyed the humorous mishaps in books such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but are also looking for extra substance. For ages 9+.”
