It is my inability to convince the big bosses that annualised salaries, if not managed and tracked properly, is a huge risk to the business that makes me the most nervous. Even when I sent this, I got, nah, our people aren't doing too many hours, I am sure of it....
Followed by - we haven't actually reconciled, but I am confident we dont need to 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

As someone who has working in HR for over 15 years (still not quite ready to call myself a professional) I want to vent something!
I read lots and lots of articles, posts and case studies on businesses doing awesome things for their people. They use great theories and strategies to boost the employee experience... I love them! I love reading them! I love thinking about how I could incorporate them into my current and future workplaces!

BUT - here I am, in my 6th business in a senior HR role and not one of them would even entertain the thought of doing someone positive for its people!

Correct bad behaviours - yes - to improve the business performance
Redesign org structures to save money - yes - to improve profit
Increase efficiencies to save money - yes - to improve profit

The motivation is never about the people, just the profit. The part where it is the people that create the profits seems to be missed!

Need to up my influence game!

I love and hate this article equally!

It is well written and I love the optimism of how HR can help with the employee experience and engagement.

I hate that in over 15 years in the Industry, I am yet to work in an organisation that allows HR to do any of this stuff.

Even when demonstrating metrics on the ROI of some of this stuff - its just the fluff that the leadership don't buy into.

Maybe that is a reflection of my lack of ability to influence...

Anyone that follows my personal profile will have seen snippets of the bullsh%t I have been dealing with!

But the end is near for me with this "issue" (workplace!)...

People have a wide range of things that keep them happy (or unhappy) in their jobs! For me, diet coke in the vending machine for $1.80, a mobile coffee man that walks to my office to ask what I want and free parking are pretty good wins in my book!

Remind me of this in 6 months....🤣🤣🤣
