Build your website in layers. Like an onion. πŸ§…

Confidence isn't one thing on a page. It's three, stacked in order.

**Layer 1 β€” Clarity**
What you do. Where you do it. Who you help. If they can't answer those in three seconds, nothing else matters.

**Layer 2 β€” Trust**
Reviews, proof, photos, accreditations. Real before and after images and video from customers with the exact same problem they've got right now.

**Layer 3 β€” Action**
Call now. Fill in the form. Get a free quote. Book a technician.

Most websites jump straight to layer three and wonder why nobody clicks. You're asking for the action before you've earned the trust.

Clarity, then trust, then action. In that order, every time.

Which layer is your site missing? πŸ‘‡

Suspiciously Good Marketing EP.1

You don't have a lead problem. You have a speed problem. ⚑

Every strategy call, I find the same things sitting in the business:

β†’ Leads in the CRM with no first contact
β†’ Calls that were never answered
β†’ Quotes that were never sent
β†’ Emails waiting on something else before someone hits send
β†’ Customers told "we'll get back to you tomorrow"

Now think about your own behaviour.

Your hot water system dies at 7pm tonight. Are you waiting until tomorrow afternoon for a call back?

Of course not. You keep ringing businesses until someone says "yes, I can fix it, and here's when."

That's the part owners miss. Customers don't stop looking just because they contacted you. They keep looking for whoever gives them speed, confidence and assurance the problem gets solved.

The fastest growing businesses aren't generating the most inquiries. They're responding fastest and stopping the customer from ever calling the next company.

How many uncontacted leads are sitting in your CRM right now? πŸ‘‡

Your cost per lead is lying to you. πŸ’Έ

You spent $1,500. On paper it looks like a $30 cost per lead.

But only 21 of those leads were actually qualified.

$1,500 Γ· 21 = **$70 per real lead.**

And that's still not the number that matters.

The metric responsible for revenue in your business is CPA. What did it cost you to acquire a real, paying customer?

Most businesses are stuck asking the wrong question: *"how much more do we need to spend to get more inquiries?"*

The right question is: what are you currently spending to get one customer who pays you $1,000?

Leads don't pay your wages. Customers do.

Do you know your CPA, or just your CPL? πŸ‘‡

Customers don't buy services. They buy relief from a problem. 🚿

Someone with a leaking tap isn't sitting there thinking "I need a licensed plumber to come out and charge me."

They're thinking: how do I stop this water going everywhere?

Locked out? They don't care about your qualifications. They want back inside their house.

Hot water system died? They don't want a new hot water system. They want a hot shower.

Now look at how most local businesses advertise:

❌ "We provide professional plumbing services across Sydney"
βœ… "Leaking tap fixed in 15 minutes. $0 call out fee."

One sells the service. The other sells the problem being gone.

β†’ They don't buy plumbing, they buy a dry floor
β†’ They don't buy a locksmith, they buy access to their house
β†’ They don't buy electrical work, they buy their power working again

So go into your Google Ads account right now and rewrite your headlines around what you're actually fixing for them. Watch your click through rate move.

Nobody wants a plumber. They want the leak gone.

Are your ads selling the service or the relief? πŸ‘‡

Stop tracking leads as they come in. Track them by stage. πŸ“‹

Most businesses hit this exact wall as they grow. Leads land in an inbox, or an SMS, or a CRM, and they just sit there in a list.

Build columns instead:

β†’ **New lead**
β†’ **Contacted**
β†’ **Not reachable**
β†’ **Bad lead**
β†’ **Good lead**
β†’ **Converted**

New lead comes in. You call them, they move to Contacted. Wrong fit? Bad lead. Booked in? Converted.

Now every single morning you can see exactly how many leads you still haven't contacted, and exactly who didn't pick up and needs chasing again.

That "not reachable" column is where the money is. They stay there. You keep calling, day after day, multiple times a day.

You paid for that lead. They didn't ignore you, they were busy. They still have the problem they contacted you about.

Keep calling.

How are you tracking your leads right now? πŸ‘‡

Customers don't compare quotes. They compare confidence. πŸ’¬

"We keep losing because we're priced at the top of the market." Maybe. But that's rarely the real reason.

Before working with you, the customer has no idea who the best plumber, electrician, builder or lawnmowing company actually is. They're deciding on almost no information.

So they ask themselves:

β†’ Did they answer the phone professionally?
β†’ Did they arrive on time?
β†’ Did they explain the issue in simple English instead of jargon?
β†’ Which one made me feel confident they'd fix it first time?

Think about choosing a doctor. You have no way to judge who's technically the most advanced. You judge how they communicate, how organised they are, and whether they seem certain about the solution.

Local service businesses are identical.

I've seen one company charge $100 and another charge $250 for the same job, purely because the customer trusted them more.

Walk in, explain the solution clearly, answer the questions, leave them reassured, and price stops being the conversation.

Confidence is what people buy.

Are you selling a price or selling certainty? πŸ‘‡

LTV, explained over a four month example. πŸ’°

One customer. Here's what they actually spend.

β†’ Month 1: $1,000
β†’ Month 2: $600
β†’ Month 3: $200
β†’ Month 4: $1,800 (a big upgrade)

Add it up. **$3,600.**

That's the lifetime value. That customer isn't worth $1,000 to you. They're worth $3,600.

And this is the part most businesses miss. It's not what they spend with you upfront. It's what they'll spend over the next four months, or the next four years, working alongside you.

Which changes how you think about ad spend entirely. How much of it is buying that first transaction? And how much of it is buying the whole lifetime?

Judge your ads against the $1,000 and they look expensive. Judge them against the $3,600 and you'll spend a lot more confidently.

Do you know what a customer is worth to you over their lifetime? πŸ‘‡

Boardroom advice, rated true or false. πŸ›οΈ

**"Operational leverage matters more than marketing"** β†’ FALSE. Run the most fine-tuned machine in your industry and it means nothing if nobody knows about it. Though marketing on a broken backend saves no one either. Both hands in hand.

**"Sustainable growth beats rapid growth"** β†’ FALSE. Rapid growth every time. You can hire someone whose entire job is adding sustainability and efficiency back in. That's a nice problem to have.

**"Market share doesn't guarantee profitability"** β†’ TRUE. Own 40% of the market and you've also inherited brand awareness, reputation management, more unhappy customers to handle. Scale brings responsibilities smaller businesses never carry.

**"Most businesses under-invest in customer retention"** β†’ TRUE. Can't retain clients and you're stuck on the acquisition flywheel forever, constantly filling a leaking bucket.

**"Payback period is more important than ROAS"** β†’ TRUE. A 2x ROAS with a two-month payback and a 12x LTV beats a bigger ROAS number every day.

Also in the video: gross margin vs revenue, contribution margin, and why incremental growth is underrated.

Which one would you argue with? πŸ‘‡

The first business to respond wins. πŸ“ž

Not because they're cheaper. Not because they're better.

Because they became the business that took responsibility for the problem.

They picked up and said "we can do it."

And in that moment something shifts in the customer's head. They stop thinking *"I need to find someone to fix this."*

They've found you. Your business is now helping them.

That's not a small change. That's the entire emotional weight of the decision moving off their shoulders and onto yours, and it happens before you've quoted a single dollar.

Speed isn't a service standard. It's a competitive advantage.

How fast does your business pick up? πŸ‘‡
