The Department of Home Affairs has announced that all eligible temporary visa applicants in Australia will not anymore be required to take medical examinations and chest x-rays in most cases, except the following:
1. Have applied for a medical treatment, temporary protection or a provisional visa
2. Expect to incur medical costs or require medical treatment
3. Intend to work as (or study to be) a doctor, dentist, nurse or paramedic
4. Will enter a hospital, aged or disability care facility (if higher tuberculosis risk)
5. Pregnant and intending to have the baby in Australia
6. Will work or train at an Australian childcare center
7. Aged over 75 years (if applying for a visitor visa)
8. Had previous household contact with tuberculosis or
9. Are requested to do so by the Department.
Applicants must fill-out their forms genuinely otherwise, their visa will be cancelled.
