Still reflecting on last night's incredible event with Michelle Obama, thanks to The Growth Faculty.

Hearing her share stories from childhood including being told she “wasn’t Princeton material” through to navigating fear and stepping into spaces that felt uncomfortable, was incredibly inspiring.

It was a reminder to us that courage doesn’t mean not feeling fear, it means moving forward anyway.

Grateful to hear such honesty, wisdom and perspective from such an inspirational woman.

For years we've seen organisations try to solve engagement through motivation - more perks, more initiatives, more productivity hacks. But increasingly, employees are asking a much deeper question: “Does my work actually matter?”

In our latest blog, we explore why purpose and meaning at work may be one of the most important drivers of engagement, performance and retention in 2026.

Engagement is down.
Stress is up.
Managers are stretched.

Sound familiar?

The latest Gallup State of the Global Workplace report confirms what many organisations are feeling – but the real story sits beneath the data.

In our latest blog, we unpack our key insights and why we think the real issue isn’t effort, it’s how work and leadership are being designed.

When people understand what they naturally do best, everything shifts - confidence, collaboration, and results. Our CliftonStrengths (https://www.gallup.com/cliftonstrengths/en/252137/home.aspx) coaching helps individuals and teams not just know their strengths, but actively apply them in how they work, lead, and show up each day.

If you’re looking to lift performance in a way that actually sticks, this is a powerful place to start.

Keen to explore how this could work for your team? Let’s chat.

Most organisations don’t have a culture strategy. They have culture theatre. And it’s costing them more than they realise.

In our latest blog, we unpack why culture isn’t a “people initiative” but a critical enabler of organisational performance, shaping how decisions are made, how fast teams move, and whether strategy actually lands.

The real question? Is your culture enabling your strategy… or quietly working against it?

If this is something you’re looking for some support on, we’d love to chat.

Scaling brings opportunity and complexity. That’s where thoughtful organisational design makes all the difference.

We love partnering with growing businesses to shape structures that work for today, while mapping what’s needed for tomorrow - whether that’s 12 months or five years away. Getting the foundations right early creates clarity, confidence and room to grow.

A big thanks to Twomey Dispute Lawyers for trusting us with this critical milestone!

Is it just us, or is the year flying by already?! It's hard to believe we're on the other side of the Easter break and into the final quarter of FY26!

As has been the case throughout the year, Q3 was another bumper quarter for Nine Yards - here's a quick summary of some of our achievements with our clients.

If you have been thinking about engaging a People & Culture partner to support your journey, we'd love to chat.

From April 2026 WGEA reporting enters a new phase, shifting from measuring gender equality to actively improving it.

For employers with 500+ employees, this means setting formal targets and demonstrating progress over time. For those with 100+ employees targets aren’t yet required, however with increased transparency, expectations are only going one way.

This isn’t just about compliance. It’s an opportunity to understand your data, align your leadership, and shape a clear, intentional narrative around gender equality in your organisation.

Now is the time to get ahead of it. How prepared is your organisation for what’s coming?

Are we starting to see a quiet opt-out of leadership? As the role becomes more complex, more demanding, and harder to sustain, fewer people are putting their hand up. In our latest blog, we explore what this means, and why it might be time to redesign leadership itself.

This year’s theme, Give to Gain, is a powerful reminder that progress towards gender equality isn’t passive. It requires people and organisations to actively give – opportunities, advocacy, sponsorship, and support – because when women succeed, workplaces, teams and organisations are stronger for it.

At Nine Yards, we see this play out every day. The most effective organisations are the ones intentionally creating space for women to lead, contribute and grow. Not just through policies or initiatives, but through the everyday decisions leaders make about visibility, opportunity and trust.

Give to Gain is a call to action for all of us. To lift others up, to share opportunities, to champion potential and to design workplaces where talented women can thrive.

Today we’re celebrating the incredible women in our community — and recommitting to the work of building workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Happy International Women's Day from the Nine Yards Consulting team!
