Risks of Freezing the National Construction Code (NCC) and Essent.

The Federal Coalition’s proposal to halt updates to Australia’s National Construction Code (NCC) for ten years, as part of a fast-tracked housing plan, has sparked significant concerns from the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA). The NCC, which typically undergoes updates every three years, is vital for maintaining safety, health, and sustainability standards across Australia’s construction industry. The AIA warns that freezing the NCC may lead to long-term risks in building quality and safety, outweighing the short-term benefits of expedited development.

Termicoat® holds a strong position in the pre-construction industry due to its commitment to quality and compliance.

Termicoat®’s commitment to transparency and its adherence to standards should reassure stakeholders about its compliance status. Addressing these misconceptions directly with updated compliance reports and clear information on the expert assessments required by AS3660.3 A3.3 may also help counter any misinformation in the industry.

However, over the past two years, there have been persistent rumors and misinformation surrounding Termicoat® in the pre-construction industry, primarily propagated by our opposition pest control companies.

These companies have incorrectly, and falsely claimed that the withdrawal of CodeMark renders Termicoat® non-compliant.

Termicoat® continues to meet all compliance requirements.

The current compliance report has been updated to reference the NCC2022.
