Subclass 189 Visa – Understanding the New Tier System πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

Australia’s Skilled Independent (Subclass 189) visa now follows a tier-based priority system, changing how invitations are issued.

What’s New?
Occupations are grouped into priority tiers based on Australia’s labour market needs.
πŸ‘‰ Higher-tier occupations may receive invitations even with lower points.

Tier Overview:
πŸ”Ή Tier 1: Critical, highly specialised roles (medical specialists)
πŸ”Ή Tier 2: High-priority sectors (health & education)
πŸ”Ή Tier 3: Diverse occupations with strong long-term adaptability (engineering and trade occupations)
πŸ”Ή Tier 4: Oversupplied occupations with intense competition (accountants, and IT occupations)

Key Points to Remember:
βœ” Meeting minimum points doesn’t guarantee an invite
βœ” Tier priority can outweigh points ranking
βœ” Occupation demand can change with policy updates
βœ” Staying updated is essential for success

The Subclass 189 visa is still a top PR pathway β€” but success now depends on strategy, timing & occupation priority.
