Kate will be speaking at the 2026 Data and Insights Summit next week, presenting on music and cultural diplomacy
(her two favourite things) and sharing insights from her Churchill Fellowship report ‘Cultural Power is Political Power’.

Summit tickets on waitlist only now but look out for commentary via social media.

On Monday night in Perth, the Asia T**A team were overjoyed to receive the Inspire Award for Organisations at the 2026 Asia Pacific Arts Awards, in recognition of the festival’s contribution to artistic collaboration and cultural exchange across the Asia-Pacific.

“We are humbled by this acknowledgment from the Awards Jury of esteemed peers and experts, and we want to thank our community for embracing our vision and diving into our programs with such curiosity and passion,” said Creative Director Jeff Khan while accepting the award alongside 2025 Executive Producer Naomi Velaphi, Senior Curator Tam Nguyen and Executive Director, Performing Arts, Melanie Smith.

“This month marks a major milestone for Asia T**A – one year since our reimagined 2025 festival opened. It’s hard to believe a year has passed since Asia T**A captivated the imaginations of audiences, artists and creative communities across Melbourne and the world. The recognition of this award comes at a critical time for Asia T**A as we work to secure support for our next festival cycle and dream up even greater contributions to the cultural life of the region.”

Performances commissioned and presented at Asia T**A’s 2025 festival have since gone on to reach more than 20,000 audience members in 12 countries across the Asia-Pacific, Americas and Europe. And we’re just getting started: the Asia T**A team are now diving into creative developments for a whole range of new performances, ideas and commissions for the 2026-2028 festival cycle.

Red is an artist, curator, and producer working across dance, theater, experimental music. She is co-director of MORUA, a Nha Trang-based independent dance platform, and Project Đẩy Sàn, a Saigon-based platform for performance makers in Vietnam.

Red curated Dealing in Distance traveling festival (Goethe Institut Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Manila, 2025-2026), co-curated Djakarta International Theater Platform (2025), and Nổ Cái Bùm Traveling Art Festival (Hoi An & Da Nang, 2024). She collaborates with Southeast Asian artists and producers through MORASUM, co-founded by producers from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and South Korea, and SEACN (Southeast Asia Choreographer Networks).
