Before we put you forward for any role, we ask the clinic:
• What is the billable target, in writing? A 38-hour week is not 38 billable hours.
• When is admin time protected, and is it actually in the diary?
• Who supervises you, how often, and what does that look like?
• Why did the last clinician leave?

If the answers don't stack up, we tell you. That's the job.

It's World Patient Safety Day, so let's talk about the safety measure that doesn't come in a policy folder: your people. 🏥

Today is R U OK? Day. In healthcare, it's a question worth asking all year round. 💬

Nurses and allied health professionals spend every shift caring for other people. But carrying that load takes something out of you, and too many of the people we talk to are running on empty.

So today, and every day:

💚 Check in on your colleagues, especially the ones who seem "fine".
💚 Ask twice. "No really, how are you going?" opens more doors than you'd think.
💚 And check in on yourself. Feeling supported at work isn't a luxury. It's the baseline you deserve.

Sometimes the bravest answer to "are you OK?" is "actually, I don't think I am". If that's you, and your workplace is part of the weight, know that better environments exist. We talk to healthcare professionals about this every day, confidentially and without pressure.

It's Jean Hailes Women's Health Week, and we can't let it pass without saying this. 💚

Australia's health workforce is powered by women. Around three in four healthcare workers are women: nurses, midwives, physios, OTs, speechies, podiatrists and more, caring for the whole country day in and day out.

(And a special shout-out to the physios among them, World Physiotherapy Day was yesterday too. 💪)

So here's our message to the women of healthcare this week: you spend your working life looking after everyone else. This week is your reminder to book that check-up, take that break, and put your own health on the list.

Care for the carers. Always.
