After a lot of interest in our wasp trap solution, our batch has run out.

The good news is that the solution is incredibly easy to make at home!

Solution Recipe:
(For two traps)
- 250g sugar
- 1l hot water (from the tap, not boiling)
- 1 tsp yeast

Dissolve sugar in hot water. Add 1 tsp yeast and stir until mixed. Allow 1-2 days for the solution to ferment - timing of fermentation will dependant on the weather. The solution should bubble/foam and smell like yeast - this will help deter bees from being attracted.

We are expecting to have more solution available by Friday 16 October, but please be aware we are limiting 1x2l container per household.

For any further enquiries, please contact Council’s Environment Team on (03) 5775 8552 or email [email protected]
