Keen to join our team here at Austimber Harvesting and Haulage? We are currently seeking a motivated, skilled and professional mechanic for our Gippsland forestry operations.

Working in a team environment, your job as a diesel mechanic will be maintaining and repairing a fleet of modern plant and equipment related to timber harvesting operations, predominantly John Deere, in a well-equipped workshop and on site. You will have the ability to apply your skills and gain great experience with modern high performance equipment.

To be considered for this role candidates will require the following:
-Experience in maintenance and repairs of timber industry or heavy plant
-Strong mechanical aptitude
-High level of attention to detail
-Able to work unsupervised
-Proactive approach to safety rules and procedures
-Good written and communication skills
-Possess a Can Do attitude

This is a full time position with overtime available including Saturdays as required. Wages negotiable.

On Friday we bid farewell to Tony Sonka and we wish him a very happy and well earned retirement. Tony has worked with us for 35 years, starting out as an operator and for the last 15 years has been a fundamental part of our leadership team as Harvesting Manager. Many of us here have learnt so much from him over the years and we will miss seeing him around the bush and the yard but are very happy for him that he is able to enjoy a relaxing retirement and will now have plenty of time for fishing! Congratulations Tony!

A very proud moment for all of us here at Austimber Harvesting and Haulage as our Managing Director, Ian Reid, was inducted into the AFCA Hall of Fame at the AFCA 20th Anniversary and Hall of Fame Dinner on Thursday night. This award recognises Forestry Contractors who have worked in the harvest and haulage sector for a minimum of 25 years and have made significant contribution to the growth and development of the industry.
Ian certainly ticks all of these boxes, as a positive and driven leader of our company, with a passion for the industry that has lead him to not only be involved in AFCA over many years, serving as a director and a period as chairperson, but also many other industry bodies who work to shine a light on the fantastic work the Forestry industry does in sustainably maintaining our forests so quality products are available for the building, packaging and paper industries.
