Our vision for the Mt Arthur Coal site is that it delivers a positive legacy from BHP mining in the Hunter Valley.

Today, a big step forward in that vision has been delivered through the NSW Government’s approval of the Mt Arthur Coal Mine Land Transformation Precinct Master Plan and rezoning of our site.

To help the workforce prepare for when BHP ceases mining at Mt Arthur Coal in 2030, BHP is reimbursing its workforce the course fees for any nationally recognised training course.

One teammate making the most of this opportunity is Technician Maintenance Plumber Brady who is studying a Bachelor of Construction.

Seeds of change🌱🌱🌱

As part of our rehabilitation work, Mt Arthur Coal carefully germinates thousands of seeds in our nursery every year.

Once they’re ready to be planted, they’ll go to one of three vegetation areas that we’re responsible for.

Graduates from across BHP, including our NSW grads, came together recently for a weeklong forum to better understand the business value chain.

The forum, which took place across Moranbah and Mackay in Queensland, was hosted by BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) and organised by the Coal Graduate Committee (which is comprised of previous graduates).

Our graduates got to hear from a variety of business experts, visit different sites, participate in a variety of simulation activities, and network with people from across the business.

We’re proud to invest in our graduates by creating experiences like this, which give them valuable knowledge, connections and business perspective that will set them up for the next stage of their careers.

Congrats Muswellbrook High School livestock show team! This team are Mt Arthur Coal Grassroot Sponsorship Grant recipients and used the sponsorship funds to buy supplies and new team uniforms which were worn proudly at the recent NSW School Merino Wether Challenge in Dubbo where the students received the School Encouragement Award.

We’re so proud to play our small part in supporting local students to pursue their passions and congratulate the team on their performance.

Thanks to everyone who visited the Mt Arthur Coal stall at the Singleton Show last weekend.

It was great to connect with the community, answer questions and share updates on our future plans to enable economic opportunities through mine land re-use.

We had a Weber BBQ up for grabs which was won by Hannah and Joe from Singleton.

2. Grassroots Sponsorship Grants - $2,000 for local sporting clubs and community groups. Winners are voted on by Mt Arthur Coal employees.
