A quick one from South Lismore. Three Ducks Farm's cattle dam had two spots seeping through the wall, and both were starting to wash out.
The usual answer is to rebuild the wall. That’s well over $10K and a lot of machinery on site.
Instead we planted 300 vetiver slips in four rows along the contour of the wall. Once established, the roots go down 2 metres or more and bind the wall together, while the hedges hold the soil on the face where it’s eroding.
Planted 23 September, so it’s early days. We’ll post an update as it grows in.
If you’ve got a dam, gully or bank that’s moving, have a look at what Vetiver Systems can do before you call in the excavator.
