• Detectable signals from an earlier model Tile device
• Clear BLE transmissions when in close proximity to a locator card used to track valuables
• Strong, consistent signals when positioned next to an Apple AirTag

During a recent assignment, we conducted a Technical Surveillance Counter-Measures (TSCM) sweep of a client’s vehicle after a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) tracker was identified.

The client reported hearing an unfamiliar chime inside the vehicle. A detailed inspection revealed a concealed tracking device hidden within the rear seat area. The client had no knowledge of the device and had not provided consent for any form of tracking or monitoring.

Modern BLE trackers are small, discreet, and capable of operating for extended periods. The model located in this case has an advertised battery life of up to five years, highlighting how easily these devices can remain undetected without a proper sweep.

This image was taken from inside a residential roof space. ⚠️

About one week before our attendance, security camera installers were working at the property and discovered a modem concealed inside the roof cavity. Our client was completely unaware it existed. 🏠

The home already had a functioning modem installed in the main living area. There was no legitimate reason for a second modem to be operating inside the roof space without the homeowner’s knowledge. ❗

Installing a modem in a roof cavity is not standard practice. In our experience, this type of setup is indicative of deliberate concealment of an internet connection and is commonly associated with covert or unauthorised activity. 🕵️‍♂️

It also presents a serious fire risk. Modems generate heat, and roof spaces are already high-temperature environments, particularly during warmer months. Combining the two creates an unnecessary and potentially dangerous hazard. 🔥
