This quote sums up why I started the AltEm Stitches licensing program.
When I opened our first shop in Newcastle in 2016, the goal was simple: give people well-fitting clothes they feel good in. But along the way, I saw something bigger. So many talented women have sewing skills but no clear path to turn them into a business, especially women who need flexibility to work from home.
So in 2024, I created a way to share what I'd built.
That's what our name is all about. AltEm stands for "Empowerment through Alterations."
Our licensing program lets women run their own home-based alterations business under the AltEm Stitches brand, with no shop rent and low start-up costs. They get our systems, training, and support, so they can focus on what they do best.
Here's Payal from our Maryland branch, working on a bridal gown. She's living proof of what this program is all about.
When our licensees succeed, our customers get great service, and AltEm Stitches grows too. That's Zig's quote in action.
