— Cathy Dimarchos

Cathy Dimarchos is passionate about her footprint in life and is determined to share her passion and expertise in business, downloading this knowledge to help others step outside of their comfort zone and expand their own learning and boundaries. She believes in paying things forward and leaving nothing behind so that she can support and develop those around her. Her work within large companies, SME’s, teams, CEOs, and individuals over the years has been with one thing in mind; to support them and their business as well as ensuring that their staff reaches their potential whilst goals are reached. Cathy founded Solutions2You after having been in the Finance Industry for more than 35yrs. Having been engaged in a few different industries along the way, she undertook studies outside the industry as she began to see how vital it was to make PEOPLE the centre of every business. This led her to working in the field of Counselling and Coaching as well as leading a team into a new business venture within the financial world. Cathy was fortunate to have solid finance knowledge before she successfully entered the Sales industry. Within her first 7 months, she had developed a driven sales team and achieved exceptional sales targets, catapulting her onto the podium that earned her rights to free overseas conferences. It was not long after that she was approached to come back into finance. Whilst she enjoyed her new calling in sales, she found the time to pursue both. As time progressed, she grew to understand the importance of following all of her passions. This is underpinned by her desire to Leave a cleaner footprint on the planet and pursuing her love for giving back. Developing a way to produce natural products (Soaps, washing detergent, candles etc.) and these are now part of a successful venture selling products in Organic shops, supplying B&B’s and by everyday people at a reasonable price, where funds are then dedicated to the work being done in Africa. Cathy's journey to Africa began when her daughter (17 at the time of travel) decided she wanted to do some charity work and she embarked on a journey to Tanzania for 3 months. Whilst emotionally challenging it is one of the most rewarding. Cathy states that her greatest challenge and most rewarding was her time she lived with the Maasai (she would be happy to share some of her many stories with you). As a family, they visit Tanzania regularly and take friends who want to share in the journey. They work in a Crisis centre for babies and love every moment of it. They visit schools and orphanages, embracing the different ways of living, and have made lifelong friends along the way.

What can a dream inspire?

During my time at Stars Academy School, I spoke with students about having a dream, community and social impact, entrepreneurship, leadership, and the book Uzuri.

These are important themes to explore as young people begin thinking about their aspirations, their role in their communities, and the difference they can make.

I believe conversations like these create opportunities to consider new perspectives, recognise possibilities, and reflect on how our ideas and actions can contribute to something meaningful.

The possibilities we imagine today can influence the choices we make tomorrow.

What possibilities can we encourage young people to explore?

What are you willing to sacrifice today to discover the potential you already hold?

We often speak about sacrifice as though it is something life asks of us.

Perhaps the greater sacrifice is letting go of the version of ourselves that no longer allows us to grow.

Potential doesn’t disappear.

Sometimes it sits beneath the beliefs we stopped questioning, the stories we continue to repeat, and the certainty we have mistaken for truth.

The question has never really been whether we have potential. Perhaps the question is whether we are prepared to release what is preventing us from seeing it.

Pause for a moment. What belief have you protected for so long that you no longer notice it may be protecting you from yourself?

Can a decision have been right then and still be incomplete now?

We often look back at past decisions using information we only gained afterwards.

A career. A relationship. A business model. A direction we chose at a particular point in our lives.

It may have been right for us then.

It may have given us experience, stability and opportunities that helped shape who we became.

Recognising that something no longer fits in the same way doesn’t mean the original decision was a mistake.

We change.

Experience changes what we value. Responsibility changes what we notice. Success, disappointment, loss and exposure to different ways of living can all change the questions we ask ourselves.

Growth doesn’t require us to reject an earlier version of ourselves.

Sometimes it asks us to look honestly at whether the life we’re living still reflects what we now understand.

Loyalty to a past decision can look responsible. There are times when that same loyalty keeps us responding to life as though we are still the person who made the decision.

So perhaps the question isn’t, “Was that decision wrong?”

Perhaps it is:

What part of my life may still reflect an earlier version of who I was, rather than who I have become?

What happens when two young girls decide their voices matter?

As we approach the soft launch of Uzuri, I keep coming back to where this story began.

Two young students from Tanzania, Theresia Mrema and Irene George, noticed the growing practice of skin bleaching and the messages about beauty, identity and worth that sit beneath it.

They could have simply noticed it.

Instead, they chose to do something.

They wrote a fictional story about a young princess who seemingly has everything, yet has not discovered something far more important: her own worth from the inside out.

Uzuri means beauty in Swahili. The story invites us to think about what beauty really means, and where our ideas about ourselves come from.

What do young people learn to value?

How do family, community, culture, media and the world around them shape the way they see themselves?

Theresia and Irene aren’t waiting until they are older to have a voice. Through Uzuri, they are beginning a conversation about self-worth, identity, belonging, self-care and self-love.

That is youth leadership.

Sometimes social impact starts simply with two young people deciding that something they see deserves to be talked about.

I’m looking forward to seeing where their voices take this conversation.

WHAT IF POVERTY ONLY EXISTED IN A MUSEUM?

What if the greatest measure of success for an impact organisation was reaching a point where its work was no longer needed?

In this episode of Let’s Pay Attention: Hacking Consciousness, I speak with Topher Wilkins, CEO, community architect and curator of Opportunity Collaboration.

For more than 20 years, Topher has worked at the intersection of intentional community, experiential learning and global impact. Our conversation explores a question worth asking of any organisation working towards social change: what is the actual reason we exist?

If we work to address poverty, inequality or systemic disadvantage, how should we measure success? By the growth of our organisation, or by how much the problem itself has been reduced?

This isn't about diminishing the role of charities or impact organisations. It's about considering what success could look like if we focused on solving the problems we were created to address, even if that eventually meant our work was no longer necessary.

We also explore abundance, identity and collective consciousness, and what becomes possible when people bring their knowledge, resources and influence together rather than working in isolation.

Seven generations from now, will poverty still be something we manage, or could it become something future generations encounter only in a museum?

That future depends on the choices we make and the questions we're willing to ask today.

What would your organisation do differently if its ultimate measure of success was making its work unnecessary?

The next advantage for a CEO may be the question no one has asked yet.

At the top, you are surrounded by capable people and substantial information.

You also carry decisions that cross strategy, risk, culture and the lives of people you may never meet.

Seeing how those consequences connect requires more than another briefing.

It requires the capacity to recognise when conditions have shifted, think beyond an established response and make a considered decision while the pressure is still on.

This is where Adaptive Quotient becomes relevant.

Not as another framework to add to the list, but as a capacity to notice when the situation in front of us may require something different from the response that worked before.

Sometimes the most useful question is not:

“What should we do?”

It may be:

“What are we not seeing yet?”

What assumptions are we carrying into this decision?

What perspective is missing?

What has changed that may not yet be reflected in the way we are thinking?

Leadership does not always require another answer.

Sometimes it requires enough space to ask a better question.

What if the discomfort is information, rather than a problem to remove?

We can be quick to either believe an uncomfortable feeling completely or dismiss it altogether.

Perhaps there is another possibility.

A feeling can tell us that something deserves our attention without telling us exactly what to do next.

That continuing sense that there must be more might be exhaustion. It might be a conflict between what we value and how we are living or working. It might be a role that has become too narrow, or expectations we have accepted without ever really examining them.

The feeling itself does not give us the answer. It gives us somewhere to look.

So rather than immediately asking, “How do I get rid of this?”, perhaps we could become more specific.

When does the discomfort arise?

What seems to strengthen it?

What gives us energy, rather than simply distracting us?

What might we be protecting by continuing as we are?

We do not have to judge the feeling, and we do not have to obey it.

We can become curious about it.

What might become visible if you approached something uncomfortable with curiosity rather than immediately trying to silence or solve it?

What happens when learning becomes something you can actually use?

During the workshops held on 28-29 September at The School of St Jude, students explored practical skills across Financial Literacy, Leadership, Social Entrepreneurship, Assertive Communication and Presentation Skills.

Their reflections offer a glimpse into what they experienced, what stood out to them and how the learning connected with their own lives.

At Solutions2You®, we believe capability development is not simply about delivering information. It is about creating opportunities for people to apply what they learn, strengthen their agency and develop their capacity to adapt as circumstances change.

Our programs can be adapted for schools, organisations and communities across areas including:

• Financial Literacy
• Leadership
• Social Entrepreneurship
• Assertive Communication
• Presentation Skills
• Adaptive Quotient
• Mindset and Beyond Resilience
• Meditation, Breathwork and Yoga

We are continuing to build partnerships across Africa with schools and organisations that want to create meaningful learning opportunities for young people and communities.

We are also open to conversations with organisations interested in supporting or funding programs that make these opportunities possible.

What might be possible when practical capability becomes part of the learning experience?

If your school or organisation would like to explore a partnership, we’d love to hear from you.
