Before & After: Salvinia Harvesting in Mackay

A few weeks ago, Mackay Aquatic W**d Removal completed mechanical harvesting of Salvinia across this waterbody.

This section was just over 1 hectare in size, and our team was able to complete the harvest in 2.5 days.

The before and after photos show the impact clearly — opening the water surface back up, improving access, and helping restore the overall health and appearance of the area.

Up in the beautiful Whitsundays this week. Weather is absolutely perfect! Wish I was out on the ocean in these perfect conditions 😁

This morning, our contractor has commenced cleaning of the Cannonvale Lakes Park duck pond to remove algae and w**d build up. The innovative machine works like a tractor on water, using prongs to pull up plant material and taking it to the water’s edge. The material will be collected on Friday once it is less waterlogged, to allow easier removal.

Water fountains will be reconnected once works are complete.

Spent a few weeks on the Mobitrac Aquatic w**d harvester at the Mackay Botanical Gardens. It’s a huge job but great outcome at the end.

Perhaps one of our best before and after shots of the boardwalk at the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens. Here we were largely removing water hyacinth which had formed floating rafts with other dense plant matter growing atop. Nice to see the water again along this boardwalk right up to the waterfalls now.

Also great to see Mackay high school students getting their photos taken for Mocktail down along the boardwalk last week 😃

Before and After photos from the most recent Mackay Botanical Gardens w**d removal in April. Removing the Salvinia and Water Hyacinth was the focus this time round.
