Not every pool is a new build. Some of the most technically demanding briefs we receive are renovations.

This project involved a 1970s concrete pool in a letter-B shape that needed a full stone makeover. The owner wanted Blue Ocean Sawn bluestone throughout, pool coping, general paving, and a drop face that covered the original waterline tiles. Straightforward on paper. Anything but in practice.

The curve of the pool meant every single piece of coping had to be individually traced, custom-curved, and pre-assembled at our factory before a single piece left for site. Each component was hand-carved to the exact pool profile, then fitted together in the factory to replicate the full pool because if one piece was off, the entire run would fail on installation.

The result is a continuous, seamless coping that hugs the curve of the pool front, back, and underneath, with a clean drop face that transforms the character of the whole backyard.

Blue Ocean Sawn is one of our most specified bluestone finishes. The blue-grey tone and sawn texture work across a wide range of pool styles, and it holds its appearance under Australian sun and pool chemistry without complaint.

At Fawkner Tower, SAI Stone supplied Blue Ocean Bluestone in a sawn and bush-hammered finish and installed by the team at Living Landscapes. The driveway features the bush-hammered finish, chosen specifically for the colour variation it creates across the surface, a deliberate design decision that adds texture and depth at scale.

The pedestrian areas were paved with 40mm pavers on a pod system, complemented by solid bluestone planters and kerbs throughout.
