Home user tip for the weekend.

If your smart TV is running slow, buffering or apps keep crashing, try unplugging it from the wall for 30 seconds and plugging it back in.

It works the same way as restarting a computer. Smart TVs are basically computers with a screen and they need a proper restart every now and then.

If it is still acting up after that, check for software updates in the TV settings and make sure your Wi-Fi signal is strong where the TV is.

Still not right? Send us a message. We help home users get their smart home tech working properly.

Cybersecurity tip for the week.

If you only do one thing to protect your accounts this week, turn on two-factor authentication.

It is the single biggest upgrade you can make to your online security. Even if someone gets your password, they still cannot get in without the second factor.

Most email accounts, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and banking apps support it. Turn it on everywhere you can.

If you need help setting up 2FA for your business accounts, send us a message. We can get it sorted.

This week we helped someone recover photos they thought were gone forever.

A hard drive had failed and they had no backup. The photos were from years of family events and they had not been backed up anywhere.

We were able to recover most of the data and get it back to them on a new drive.

The lesson is simple. If it matters, back it up. Cloud, external drive, or both. Just do not leave your important files in one place.

We help with data recovery and setting up proper backups. Send us a message if you need a hand.

IT myth that gets people into trouble.

"I have nothing worth hacking. Nobody would target me."

Here is the thing. Hackers do not care who you are. They are running automated attacks that hit thousands of people at once. They want your data, your email, your passwords, your bank details or just your device to use as part of a bigger attack.

Being small or ordinary does not make you safe. Being careful does.

If you want to know where your weak spots are, send us a message. We can help you check.

Business tip for the week.

If your business internet keeps dropping or running slow, the problem might not be your NBN plan. It could be your router, your Wi-Fi setup, the cabling or how many devices are connected at once.

We see this all the time. Businesses paying for a fast NBN plan but still getting slow speeds because the network inside the office is holding them back.

If your internet is not giving you what you are paying for, send us a message. We can check your setup and point out where the bottlenecks are.

Sunday question.

What is the best piece of tech you have bought in the last year?

Was it a laptop, a monitor, a tablet, a smart home gadget or something else entirely? We would love to hear what people are using and what they actually find useful.

Tell us in the comments. We love seeing what our followers are running and it helps us understand what people actually need help with.

Quick tip for the weekend.

If a website is acting strange, your browser is not loading pages properly or things just look wrong, try clearing your browser cache.

In Chrome or Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + Delete and clear your browsing data. In Safari on Mac, go to Settings, Privacy and clear your website data.

It is one of the easiest fixes in tech and it works more often than people expect.

If clearing the cache does not sort it, send us a message. We can help you figure out what is going on.

Home user tip for the weekend.

If your printer is not playing nice, try this before you call anyone.

Turn it off. Unplug it. Wait 30 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on. It sounds too simple but it fixes more printer problems than you would expect.

If it is still not working after that, check that it is on the same network as your computer and that there are no error lights on the printer itself.

Still stuck? Send us a message. We help home users across Penrith get their printers sorted without the frustration.

Cybersecurity tip for the week.

Your password is probably weaker than you think.

If it is shorter than 12 characters, uses a word or a pattern, or you use it for more than one thing, it is not protecting you properly.

A good password is long, random and unique for each account. A password manager makes this easy. You only have to remember one password and it remembers the rest for you.

If you want a recommendation for a good password manager or help setting one up for your business, send us a message.

This week we sorted a small business that had been putting up with the same three problems for months.

Printer would not connect to the network half the time. Staff could not share files between computers. And their email kept going to spam for no reason.

All three were fixable without buying anything new. We sorted the printer network settings, set up proper file sharing and cleaned up their email setup.

That is the kind of thing we do. No upselling, no unnecessary hardware. Just getting your tech to work the way it should.

If your business has problems you have just been living with, send us a message. We can probably help.
