This NAIDOC Week, BTP has been proud to recognise and celebrate the cultures, knowledge and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through a series of events and initiatives:
● In Hazelmere, employees took part in a hands-on Solid Science Discovery Workshop delivered by Koordas Crew, exploring Noongar Boodja plants and learning how traditional knowledge can be used to create bush glue, natural soap and medicine.
● Across our sites, teams have enjoyed tea and coffee from Blak Brews, a First Nations-owned business that showcases native Australian ingredients through its products.
● Our Mackay team unveiled an original artwork by Indigenous artist Jessica Rigby. The painting tells a story of collaboration, bringing together people, Country and industry, and reflects the opportunities created when modern practices walk alongside First Nations knowledge.
● We’ve also been pleased to see our sponsorship support Newman Pioneers netball team, and the NAIDOC Week uniform designed by 17yo Isaac Yallabah.
Beyond the activities taking place this week, BTP continues to build relationships and support First Nations communities through meaningful partnerships. Over the past year, this has included partnering with Ochre Australia Pty Ltd to help create employment pathways and strengthen Indigenous participation in industry, as well as sponsoring the Gangulu Language Camp to help revive language and cultural knowledge on Country.
Through these activities and partnerships, we are proud to acknowledge the valuable contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the enduring cultures that continue to shape Australia.
