Winter changes the way Australian homes use electricity.

As the temperature drops, some of the biggest energy users aren't always the appliances people expect. Heating, hot water, EV charging and pool heating can all play a significant role in your household energy consumption during the cooler months.

The good news? Understanding where your energy is going is the first step towards taking control of it.

That's why more homeowners are looking at home electrification. When solar, battery storage, hot water, EV charging and other major energy systems work together, you gain more visibility, more control and greater opportunity to use energy when it makes the most sense.

Smarter energy isn't about sacrificing comfort. It's about making your home work harder for you.

Which of these do you think uses the most electricity in your home during winter?

09/06/2026

Hot water is one of the biggest energy costs in the average Australian home, especially through winter when showers get longer and demand goes up.

Last month at the Smart Energy Conference in Sydney, Stewart shared some of the features that help make the iStore heat pump stand out from the crowd.

✔ Bigger compressor and bigger evaporator for efficient performance
✔ Standard 10 amp plug connection
✔ Can be transported laying down, making installation logistics easier
✔ Uses up to 75–85% less electricity than traditional electric water heaters
✔ Can reduce hot water energy costs by up to 70%
✔ Works brilliantly alongside solar, helping you make the most of the energy you're already generating

The average household can spend up to a quarter of its energy bill on hot water. That's why more Australians are choosing smarter ways to heat their water and lower their running costs.

Thinking about upgrading your hot water system? Speak with your local iStore installation partner to see what's possible for your home.

Re-living some of the highlights from the Smart Energy Conference this month in Sydney.

It’s always great to connect with installers, partners, and the wider energy industry face-to-face.

Over two big days, we had the chance to showcase the latest in full home electrification; chat all things solar, batteries, EV charging, and hot water, and introduce some new and exciting products we have lined up. The team had some really great conversations about where the industry is heading.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the stand, had a chat with the team, or joined us across the event. We’re already looking forward to the next one.

Missed us at Smart Energy? Get in touch to learn more about the iStore range or connect with an installation partner.

Cooler weather is here… which usually means longer, hotter showers.

But here’s what most people don’t think about. Your hot water system is one of the biggest energy users in the home.

And with over 5 million gas systems still running across Australia, a lot of households are paying more than they need to.

The iStore heat pump works differently. It uses energy from your solar system, along with a small amount from the grid, to heat your water efficiently by pulling heat from the air.

That’s where the real savings come from.

For an average family of four, that can mean reducing annual hot water costs from around $850 to $550.*

If you’ve already invested in solar, this is how you start getting more out of it.

*Savings vary based on usage, solar generation and energy tariffs.
