MEWP Shield wins Best New Product Award

The MEWP Shield secondary crush protection system developed by Mine Tech Australia picked up the chocolates at the Industry Awards Night on Thursday 26th May in Adelaide.

Our delegation, Brendan Tritton and Jason Jordan accepted the Hire Industry Excellence Awards Best New Product – Service Provider / Software for the Mine Tech Shield-Scissor Lift version. To win this award in a field of four worthy finalists is validation of the hard work our team has put in since 2017.

We want to thank our team of Tritton, Byrne, Durkin, Jordan, Ballingall, Rosewarne and McMurtrie . In challenging market conditions, they have worked to commercialise the MEWP Shield product suite to provide a needed and cost-effective product.

The Shield is an Australian made telescopic boom, scissor lift and underground work platform type secondary crush prevention system. Shield Scissor detection distances are configurable via the companion app (iOS & Android) with all three versions having optional interlock.

 The Shield-Boom Lift and UG versions are fitted with high voltage detection and interlock protection. With OEM approved retro-fit, Shield will protect the operator(s)in the basket from crush or contact.

The day provides an opportunity to reflect on preventing work-related occupational diseases, deaths, injuries, and illnesses. It is also a day to remember those that have died from a work-related injury or disease.

Mine Tech Australia at the WA HRIA EWPA Trade Night
Mine Tech Australia (MTA) was a sponsor of the Hire & Rental Industry Association and the Telescopic Handler Association WA Trade Night & BBQ last night at the Ahern Australia Facility in Canning Vale.
MTA Chief Technical Officer Tobias Byrne was on hand to discuss the SAFEGUARD EWP proximity control system for MEWP boom and scissor type handlers. This function was the chance to meet show the local hire industry representatives why the SAFEGUARD EWP is the best secondary crush guarding system.
The SAFEGUARD EWP is the only mechatronic crush guarding system that eliminates any contact with the operator or the basket. It provides a level of alert and interlock unlike any other system on the market. Available as a retrofit system, the trade night was an opportunity to inform members how to offer hire equipment clients crush and damage risk mitigation in close quarter or overhead obstacle work fronts.
It was great to see Tim Jones from Mavuno Advisory, our commercialization partners come and see our team work the crowd. Thank you to Ahern, the HRIA and the EWPA for the opportunity to meet fellow members and we look forward to our involvement at future events.

Recently another vessel was saved by DSPA, where a fire occurred in the engine room of an East Coast Scalloper. DSPA aerosol fire suppression is exceptionally effective on fuel fires, extinguishing fires that are caused by leaking hydraulics rapidly.
