Claise Brook Catchment Group We hold monthly working bees and community plantings in winter to provide habitat and improve water quality in local wetlands and the Swan River.

The Claise Brook Catchment Group (CBCG) is a incorporated community-based environmental group working in partnership with local government and state government agencies to address natural resource management issues in the Perth inner city area. We are working to restore wetlands and improve the quality of water flowing into the Swan River from Perth city and inner city and raise community awareness and involvement in environmental issues. We assist at Local Plant sales and hold tours to raise awareness about how everyone can help to improve the health of local wetlands and the Swan River. Our website is www.cbcg.org.au, on which there is a journal of all our recent activities.

Purple and White might have been to the forefront of many minds today in Walyalup/ Fremantle and Boorloo/ Perth, but members of the Claise Brook Catchment Group kicked off with preparation for some infill planting at Boojoormelup/Robertson Park. We were very grateful to receive plants from Transition Town Vincent (TTV). Additionally, Ian Kininmonth from TTV’s Black Cockatoo Forest Coordinator, brought a trailer with some biochar compost and roo poo tea to enhance the soil into which these additional plants will go. It was a good opportunity to learn about methods for addressing the depleted soil quality of our urban environments.
The group extends its appreciation to Ian, for his donation of time, biochar and knowledge.
Thanks to all who could help today at short notice. There will be further opportunities to assist with more plantings. Check out this page for calls.

It is Djilba season and Claise Brook Catchment Group members have been active at Boojoormelup/Robertson Park during August and September. Weeding, clearing litter and planting along a deep area next to a path.

Members of the Group come with an interest in establishing and maintaining areas of native plants around the City of Vincent. We welcome new members to any of our activities.
Follow us on facebook to find the details of our next working bee. It is a splendid way to meet people and learn more about our local plants.
Often accompanied by very tasty home cooked munchies and tea when work is over.

A lot accomplished at Lincoln tower, Highgate this morning. Careful weeding around the precious banksias and new plantings on the verge. Many thanks to Rada, Jack and Micky for bringing plants and cake, Gerri for growing new plants, Rada's mum for baking cake and the City of Vincent for preparing and mulching the verge. Oh and the WA Police historical society for fencing off the verge. Team effort! Especially Geraldine Box and James 👍👍

The city of Vincent plant sale is only 3 and a bit weeks away. Meanwhile here's a list of plant nurseries to get your Australian garden started, now that we're starting to get some rain.

As we slip into the season of Djeran here on Whadjuk Country, it’s the perfect time to grab your gardening gloves and get planting. Article by Claire
