A few years ago, I was working for wages, doing stupid hours and travelling all over the state. I knew I had to find a way out of working for the man.
I started reading every self-development and business book I could get my hands on. One that really stuck with me was Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. The biggest lesson I took from it was the importance of building assets and earning income while you sleep.
I’d always wanted to get into the machinery hire industry, and I’d even tried to work out how to do it myself — but I stalled when it came to the nitty gritty. The systems, the processes, the setup, the unknowns… it was a lot.
Then in May 2022, Diggermate popped up on my Facebook feed.
What stood out was that Diggermate had it all ready to go. You weren’t just getting systems — you were acquiring years of tried and tested experience. The things you’re trying to figure out, dozens of franchisees had already been through.
Five months later, we launched our first location in Mundaring and hit the ground running, securing both dry and wet hires in our very first week. Just seven months later, we opened our second territory in Forrestfield. Then, in October 2023, I made the leap and went full-time, almost 1 year to the date of starting.
Fast forward to today, and we’ve built a small fleet that’s nearly paid off. We’re creating wealth through assets rather than simply trading hours for dollars. I choose my own hours, there’s no more stupid-o’clock starts, and no more FIFO life.
Don’t get me wrong — it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. There have been plenty of challenges, setbacks and tough times along the way. But I’m proof that you don’t need to start with everything figured out. With hard work, persistence and the right opportunity, you can start with very little and build a profitable business.
Sometimes the biggest risk is staying exactly where you are.
Most people spend decades working for income. Very few spend the same amount of time building assets.
That's not a criticism. It's simply how most of us were taught.
Work hard.
Earn more.
Save where you can.
But at some point, it's worth asking a different question.
If you stopped working tomorrow, what would continue producing value?
For many people, the answer is very little.
That's why we've always believed wealth comes from ownership.
Ownership of businesses.
Ownership of assets.
Ownership of investments.
Because while income is important, ownership is what creates options, flexibility, and long-term wealth.
The goal isn't just to earn more. It's to build something.
That's one of the reasons we created the Wealth Creation Roadmap.
To help people think differently about business ownership, asset ownership, and the path to long-term wealth creation.
