This recent commissioned zinc leadlight installation was designed to complement the original Art Deco inspired zinc lights throughout the home, creating continuity between the existing character features and the newly renovated bathroom and laundry spaces.

Following consultation with the client, the final design was carefully developed to reflect the geometry and proportions of the original windows while introducing a clean, refined contemporary finish suited to the renovation.

The textured glass selection allows for both privacy and natural light, while the zinc caming provides the crisp lines and timeless aesthetic that make Art Deco leadlights so enduring.

It is always rewarding to see new work sit naturally within the architectural story of a home rather than compete with it.

The pattern was taken from rubbings and I then drew up an approved design.

Some bevels, a little bit of glass cutting and leading by me and two new beautiful windows were made.

I love working with Zinc, it’s an excellent material to work with.

This is my favourite Zinc job so far.

I’m usually a fan of simple geometry and straight lines but this nouveau girl had my heart from the start.
Complete rebuild, new zinc, all the glass was soaked and cleaned and then the panel was rebuilt. The owner couldn’t believe it was her old door.

Restoration is just as satisfying as a new build, if not more so and this door now has a new lifetime to be enjoyed.
