The people at K Drive - Driven By Precision put us in touch with the people at Leeds Cattle Transport for this new Mack to imitate their existing truck's signage.
John did a great job installing this one at Truck Centre WA creating a perfect finish to compliment the rest of the high-quality build.

Here's a sign that came up beautifully. We used Aluminium composite cladding for the high gloss background, and some 13mm thick letters for a little extra pop on the offices for Salt Kitchen and Bathroom. Really happy with the result, as is the customer.

Hard to miss this one!
The team at Jaw Auto Electrical & Air Conditioning contacted us asking for a replacement A-frame because their existing one was a bit small, and battered from continually being blown into the drain next to it. So, we opted for this 6 foot tall one. This one has been modified in a few ways, for greater longevity and ease of use.
The standard wheels on these frames would be fine on a concrete driveway, but really hold no value on gravel, so we upgraded them. The significant modification is the chain you can see at the bottom. This is mounted to the frame so that it can be held firmly in place by the hoops we concreted into the ground. The chain can easily be unlocked from the frame, so that the sign can be wheeled in.
Avery Dennison 900 series for the black, and all the graphics on the face, so every step has been taken to ensure this one lasts a loooooong time.

My son, Walter, goes to East Kenwick Out Of School Hours Care and they have had a new bus for a little while now. Walter, the little salesman, took one of my business cards in, and we then organised to do this bus to match the existing fleet.

Their previous signwriter printed a blue with the white lettering included in the print. Printing has its place within the industry. This is not it.

So, we tackled this one with computer cut Avery Dennison peacock blue, and it has produced a crisp, clean finish that will outlast a print by a long shot.

Well, we all know that I had a John-ish highlight this week, and I'm not the sort to recycle material, so, here are some photos of a hilux we installed at HDSA this afternoon for North West HD Mechanical .
A few things done differently here. White hi vis striping (which is accepted by most minesites, contrary to popular belief) with clear protective overlay.

Most sign places will use a product they call "edge seal tape." We avoid it. It is a salesman's product. They'll tell you that it'll protect the edges, prevent lifting corners, and keep out moisture. The truth is quite the opposite. Using a thin, light duty vinyl film to "seal" the edge of a heavy duty product is nothing more than a method to increase labour and material costs. Edge seal tape will quickly have holes open up in negative space (the area between the hi vis or print) which will not only allow moisture and dirt to enter, but make it more difficult for it to escape. So, we upgraded the process.

The first thing is simple: rounded corners on all hi vis striping. Both John and I will have cut thousands of corners on hi vis in our careers, so we're quite good at it. This prevents lifting due to snagging, and dispersion of pressure washer spray, which is to blame for a huge amount of Hi Vis failures. So, we do this as part of the installation process 100% of the time.

Secondly, the customer asked for the clear sealer to be used over the face and edges of the hi vis, which does make more sense than edge tape, but if you're going to the effort of having that installed, its best to use a heavier duty product. So, we went with a clear Paint Protection Film from Avery Dennison, which is supremely glossy, thicker, won't be immediately destroyed by a pressure washer, and even has self healing properties.

The result is a product that looks.... well... exactly the same, but it will continue to look that way for a much longer period of time.

Huge thanks to the HDSA boys for having us in their shop, and for providing us with sausages to put in our mouths.

Today's the day to welcome a new member to the team.

Everyone say hi to John!

Given we are both born in the 90s, it only seemed appropriate to do a cliche "rap duo" set of photos.

Whilst the photos are a little silly, John shares my passion for doing high quality signage correctly. He started his apprenticeship the year after I did at Signs Ahead, so both of us have the same high standard of training, and we strive to achieve the best possible result.

Thanks to Sophia Callick for being our photographer!

FORGE Mining & Marine asked me for graphics on the new cruiser ute. After a good few design iterations, and a mess of headaches with the logo artwork, we got there for a nice result. The boxes are wrapped with ORAFOL Vehicle Wraps black, as is the low stripe on the doors, then a print is applied over the top for a seamless finish. All of this achieving a great level of gloss, and a finish that stands out in its own right.
This one also has white hi-vis striping, which is a far less intrusive looking option.

This week, I did another vehicle for Fresh Aire Carpet Cleaning.
Always great to have repeat customers.
This one used a handful of different products from Avery Dennison, ORAFOL Vehicle Wraps, and a printed panel on the rear to include a watermark.

Don't forget to call Franco if you need astonishingly clean carpets!

WE ARE EXPANDING!

Today, we begin the 2 week countdown for the Signtists WA earning the third "s" in the name.
I have had a few questions raised on more than one occasion, so here is a little FAQ.

1) Yes, the new employee is a qualified signwriter, and I have known him for many years.
2) No, I didn't plan to expand this soon, but an opportunity presented and I saw it as un-missable, due to the rarity of this person's familiarity and quality of install.
3) I agree, these are uncertain times. If the current international episode of "bold and the beautiful" has taught us anything, it's that ALL times are uncertain, and drama like this can erupt at any moment. So, why wait?
4) I won't share further information about the new employee until he has left his current position, as it is not our intention to cause any friction within such a small industry.
5) Everyone involved (including my son, Walter) are excited to see how the Signtists WA goes with this new chapter.

As always, I am super thankful to everyone who has been supportive of me so far, and we (now a team) look forward to continuing to provide the best quality products, and the highest standard of install for anyone who needs any type of signage.

Again, there has been a lapse of posting due to workload, but here we are. There was a handful of trucks in display at WA Mack Muster and Truck Show that I didn't post previously so that the owners could boast their initial posts. There's some demonstrators for Truck Centre WA, some work for keegan transport, and a wicked display for Fitzgerald heavy haulage. How many did you spot?
