A $1.8 BILLION lawsuit. Sacred land. And a mining giant caught in the middle.

In a Perth courtroom right now, elders of the Yindjibarndi Nation are fighting one of the most explosive legal battles in Australian history.
Their claim? Fortescue dug iron ore from their sacred Pilbara country the Solomon Mine without any land-use agreement. The Yindjibarndi Ngurra Aboriginal Corporation is now seeking $1 billion for cultural harm and $678 million in lost income from the Western Australian government for allowing it to happen.

And it's not just one community.

Reports show that 80% of Australia's critical mineral mines sit on Aboriginal land, yet First Nations people are being largely ignored in the federal government's accelerated push for critical minerals exploration.

We call it a clean energy revolution.
They call it colonialism with a different name.
To date, Indigenous peoples have not shared equitably in the wealth generated by mining Australia's mineral endowment and without major policy reform, that won't change.

Australia is digging billions out of the ground.
But who really owns that ground?

💬 Should mining companies be required to get full consent from Indigenous communities before a single shovel hits the earth? Yes or No and why? 👇

Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, rises approximately 348 meters (1,142 feet) above the surrounding desert and spans about 9.4 kilometers (5.8 miles) in circumference.

It is a massive sandstone monolith formed over 500 million years ago from compressed and tilted sediment.

Uluru holds deep cultural significance for the Anangu people, the traditional custodians of the land, and is central to their spiritual law known as Tjukurpa. In recognition of its importance, climbing Uluru was permanently banned in 2019.

🚨 CHINA COAL MINE BLAST 🚨

A major explosion at a coal mine in China has become one of the country’s deadliest mining disasters in years.

Reports say 247 workers were underground at the time of the blast, with 82 confirmed dead and 247 initially trapped as emergency crews continue rescue operations through the night.

Hundreds of responders, ambulances and rescue teams have been deployed to the site as investigations begin into the cause of the incident.

Thoughts go out to all the workers, families and emergency personnel involved. ❤️
