We spent some time with the Year 2 students Perth Waldorf School
earlier when it was Makuru.

See the full testimonial below.

"As part of our Local Surroundings Main Lesson, Class 2 went for a guided walk at Walliabup (Bibra Lake) with Casey from Koorda’s Crew. Casey shared many signs of the season Makaru, as well as how Noongar people lived off the plants and animals at the lake. We heard about how the Bibool (paperbark) was used and we even made our own natural glitter!

Casey was amazing. She shared her knowledge so clearly and in a way that was very engaging for the children. She kept referring back to the knowledge she had already shared, and the children still recall the Noongar names for plants and their uses weeks later. The care that the children put into the storybooks that Casey helped them to create was a reflection of the reverence and importance with which Casey shared her culture."

A year ago today we held our very first workshop for Koorda’s Crew! It was at our local primary school and we went big - we did six workshops back to back for the entire school, and we will be back there next week over two days to provide our Solid Science workshops next week - to the entire school again! Thank you to everyone who has supported us, and continues to do so. We are so glad our first clients are still our clients today. We think that says a lot!

We are very proud to be able to contribute cultural advisory services to Holyoake in getting their second Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan off the ground and in action. This RAP focuses on fewer targets - but bigger impact, with a considerable focus on being an ally to self-determining ACCO’s.

We hope it makes a considerable difference to all the mob Holyoake works with ❤️

Our Djilba Little Hands workshop at the City of Wanneroo Museum was full of regulars and a few new faces! We learned all about Djilba before diving into a range of hands on activities to better remember the signs of Country that lets us know Djilba is here!

There’s no seed as beautiful as the wilyawa seed in Noongar Country in our opinion. Did you know the scientific name for this plant is the Acacia Cyclops? One could only wonder why they’re called it that with a seed that looks like an eye!

Way too much fun today at Wadjemup for our Koolangka Kaadadjiny Children’s Learning Workshop. Today was a day just for members from the Aboriginal community to come along. As beautiful as Wadjemup can be, it’s got a layered history with a very dark chapter. That has meant many of our community have never been. So, to be able to have the trust of many families to come over - some for the first time - to see their own Country again - and teach their koorlangka or their grannies what we can and help to fill them with cultural pride, and just share in big mob love for a day was so special. More photos to come in the future - but we think did a great job with these. A big thanks to Dylan from for our lovely fire and smoking to send us off, clear and safe. And thanks to for the support in getting this event to fruition.

It was a lovely day meeting all the koolangka last week at the Children’s University Day at the University of Western Australia. We held our Solid Science workshop and received some rave reviews!

A huge thank you to the School of Indigenous Studies for letting us be involved.

Our Makuru Little Hands Workshop was a hit today at the Perth Children’s Hospital Family Room! Designed for little hands with wandering minds, these workshops provide an assortment of stations connected to the current Noongar season that allows the koolangka to learn through play and experience wonder. Nothing but brave kids and supportive siblings today at PCH 💪🏽❤️. How lucky we were to take their minds off whatever else was going on, even if just for a few hours. As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, Bassendean Memorial Library was lucky to welcome Casey from Koorda’s Crew for a Cultural Makuru Legoscape workshop. This year's NAIDOC Week theme, "50 Years of Deadly," celebrates 50 years of recognising, celebrating and elevating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, culture and achievements.

The workshop began with a yarning circle, where Casey set the tone by welcoming each child with a smile and by learning their names. She introduced children to the Noongar season of Makuru, and the changes we see in nature, before they explored these ideas through creative LEGO building. This session was a fantastic mash-up of culture, learning and creative expression.

Casey created a welcoming and engaging space where every child felt seen, heard and encouraged to participate. We loved all the smiles and stories in this session- that’s what our library is all about!

A big thank you to Casey and Koorda’s Crew for sharing their knowledge and delivering such an engaging workshop, and to all the children and families who joined us. Already looking forward to welcoming Koorda’s Crew back to the library for the next deadly workshop! ❤️💛🖤
