🎨🖌️ Creative Little Artists at Muddy Puddles FDC! 🌈

Yesterday and today, our little artists have been busy exploring their creativity at the easel with an assortment of paint colours and different-sized brushes.

The children have been experimenting with different painting techniques, exploring how the brushes move across the paper, and discovering what happens when colours mix together. It’s wonderful to see them expressing their own ideas and enjoying the freedom to create their own masterpieces! 🎨

Painting provides so many valuable learning opportunities for young children, including:

🖌️ Fine Motor Development: Holding and controlling paintbrushes strengthens the small muscles in their hands and fingers, helping develop the skills needed for future writing and other everyday tasks.

👀 Visual Development: Observing colours, shapes, lines and patterns helps children develop visual awareness, coordination and the ability to notice differences and details.

🌈 Sensory Exploration: Experiencing the feel of the brushes, the texture of the paint and the movement of colours across the paper encourages sensory awareness and exploration.

🎨 Creativity and Problem-Solving: Experimenting with different brush sizes, techniques and colour mixing encourages curiosity, decision-making and creative thinking.

💛 Self-Expression and Confidence: Having the freedom to choose their colours and create their own artwork allows children to communicate their ideas, express themselves and take pride in their efforts.

☀️🌿 What a wonderful day to play out on the patio at Muddy Puddles FDC! 🌿☀️

Our patio was buzzing with fun, creativity and discovery today! 🥰

🧱 Building fun: Wooden blocks were stacked into towers both high and low, with plenty of opportunities to build, balance and rebuild.
🐘 Animal adventures: Our little explorers examined the animals, naming them and sharing what they knew.
🌈 Colour discoveries: The sunshine worked its magic as the children explored colourful blocks, watching the light shine through and cast beautiful colours onto the concrete.
💦 Water play: Bottles, jugs and containers were filled, poured and emptied in our water trough, keeping little hands busy as the children experimented with water and explored how different containers worked.
🚜 Dirt patch adventures: Armed with shovels and diggers, the children got busy digging, scooping and filling trailers with dirt.
🍃 Nature play: I collected leaves, sticks and bumpy pine leaves from the backyard for the children to explore. Some enjoyed carefully threading leaves onto the sticks, practising their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, while our younger children loved the sensory experience of snapping the sticks and discovering how they felt and sounded. Nature provided plenty of opportunities for curiosity and exploration!
🎨 Creative little artists: The easel was ready for colourful paintings, giving everyone a chance to express their creativity and explore different colours.

There’s nothing quite like a day filled with sunshine, hands-on experiences and the freedom to follow our own interests. From splashing and digging to building, creating and exploring nature, our little learners were busy discovering the world around them!

Wednesday 7th October 2026.
This morning at Muddy Puddles FDC, one of our friends decided to build a very tall block tower! 🧱

Using all of our wooden blocks, they carefully worked their way upwards, even using a step to reach the very top level. When blocks accidentally tumbled down with an unexpected knock, there were no worries — they simply started rebuilding again.

This was a wonderful example of persistence, problem-solving and developing confidence. They experimented with balance and construction while working out how to make their tower taller and more stable. Most importantly, they showed resilience when things didn’t go to plan and happily tried again. ⭐️

🌱 Outcome 3 – Children have a strong sense of wellbeing: developing coordination, spatial awareness and physical confidence while reaching and building.

Friday 2nd October 2026.
A Morning of Sticky Fun, Stories & Park Adventures!

Our morning began in the lounge room with a fun sticky tape provocation using pom-poms and craft sticks. The children carefully balanced and placed the items onto the sticky tape, developing their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and problem-solving skills as they worked out how to position each item.

We then settled in with two books, talking about what we could see in the pictures, sharing our ideas and bringing our own general knowledge and experiences into the conversations. This encouraged language development, listening, comprehension and confident participation in group discussions.

After morning tea, we headed off on today’s adventure to the park with our bikes! The children enjoyed riding around and stopping to fill up with petrol when needed, adding plenty of imaginative play to our outdoor experience.

The park also had elevated walkways and slippery dips of different heights, providing opportunities for the children to challenge themselves physically. Climbing, balancing, moving across different levels and using the slides supported gross motor development, body awareness, coordination and confidence when navigating elevated surfaces.

🐦 A morning of creating & exploring! 🦖

This morning we headed to Proserpine Library to make bird feeders. The children enjoyed adding colour to their bird feeders and threading colourful beads, developing their creativity, concentration and fine motor skills.

On our way home, we stopped at Rotary Park for a play. The children enjoyed lots of dinosaur role-play and, of course, asked many times to be pushed on the swings! 🦖🛝

A lovely morning of creating, imaginative play and outdoor fun! 🌿

🐷🏠 The Three Little Pigs & the Big Bad Wolf! 🐺🏠

Before lunch today, the children chose to explore our finger puppets and decided they wanted to hear the story of The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. 🐷🐷🐷🐺

We listened to a version of the story on YouTube, and the children became very interested in the different houses the pigs built. This gave us an idea… why not build our own Big Bad Wolf house as he doesn’t have one? 🐺🏠

While the children ate their lunch, I headed out further into the backyard to collect natural materials. I gathered fallen sticks, leaves, pieces of banana leaves and pine bristles that had fallen into our yard from a neighbour’s pine tree. 🍃🌿🌲

After our afternoon sleep ,the children then used these natural materials to create their own wolf house, exploring how the different textures and materials could be used together.

This simple story turned into lots of learning through imaginative and cooperative play, storytelling, problem-solving, creativity, fine motor skills and exploring natural materials. The children shared ideas, worked alongside one another and used their imaginations to bring the story to life. 🐷🐺

A little puppet story became a hands-on learning adventure! 🌿🏠✨
