How do you translate the richness of gelato into a space you can stand inside?

Cuccini by Ritz&Ghougassian works with an existing concrete and steel shell in Victoria Park, Perth, softening the industrial framework through layered materials and nuanced detailing rather than overpowering it. Hand-finished aluminium wall panels bring depth and softness, while in-situ concrete counters infused with natural oxides form a sculptural focal point.

Coloured concrete, stone, brushed stainless steel and draped leather are unified by darker chocolate tones that build intimacy. A central counter anchors the interior and creates a direct relationship between the customer and the people making the gelato.

A cellar door shaped by its landscape.

In the heart of Tasmania's Tamar Valley, Stoney Rise Cellar Door by Cumulus Studio presents a wine-focused experience inspired by place. Geometric planes slice through the sky, and sunlight bounces off the timber-clad facade, replicating the dance of light on the surrounding gums.

Inside, spotted gum and dark brick sit alongside burgundy finishes, with large windows framing the terrain beyond. Every material is locally sourced, natural and untreated, chosen to patina and evolve over time, giving this compact yet convivial space a character that only deepens with age.
