DEADLINE ⏰

1 JULY 2026
PAYDAY SUPER BEGINS

One month. That's what's left before PayDay Super changes the way every Australian employer pays super.

Here's your action plan:

πŸ”΅ Confirm your payroll software is ready β€” talk to your provider now
πŸ”΅ Model your cash flow β€” know your weekly or fortnightly super obligation before it arrives
πŸ”΅ Review your pay cycles β€” is your current payroll frequency still the right fit?
πŸ”΅ Check your clearing house β€” can it handle more frequent super payments?
πŸ”΅ Talk to your BAS Agent β€” PayDay Super touches payroll, cash flow and compliance all at once

The businesses that handle this smoothly won't be the ones who scrambled in July. They'll be the ones who acted in May.

Ready to get PayDay Super ready? Let's make it happen.

A heads up for any business owners who've been meaning to get in touch. πŸ—“οΈ

June is just around the corner β€” and my diary is starting to fill up.

Every year, the same thing happens. Business owners who've been putting off their EOFY prep suddenly realise in June that they're running out of time. They reach out, and I do my absolute best to help β€” but the reality is, the later you leave it, the less we can do together.

The clients who get the best outcomes at EOFY are the ones who came to me in April and May β€” when there was still time to review their position, fix any issues, and put a plan in place before 30 June.

If you've been thinking about getting support with your bookkeeping, BAS, payroll or PayDay Super preparation β€” now is the time to reach out. Not next week. Now.

Here's what I can help you with before 30 June:

βœ… BAS preparation and lodgement
βœ… Account reconciliation
βœ… Payroll review and clean up
βœ… Super compliance check
βœ… PayDay Super preparation
βœ… ATO communication and payment plan support

Don't leave it until June and find yourself at the back of the queue.

Business owners who scramble in June β€” chasing records, fixing payroll errors, trying to get their books in order before 30 June β€” almost always had the opportunity to avoid it. The warning signs were there in May. The time to act was there in May.

The good news? You're reading this in May.

Here's what a plan looks like right now πŸ‘‡

βœ… Book in with your BAS Agent this week β€” June diaries fill up fast and the businesses that leave it too late get less time and fewer options
βœ… Get your accounts reconciled β€” if this hasn't been done recently, it's your most urgent priority
βœ… Review your payroll β€” super, PAYG, leave balances and STP all need to be accurate before 30 June
βœ… Start your PayDay Super preparation β€” 1 July 2026 is just weeks away. Your cash flow and payroll processes need to be ready
βœ… Chase your outstanding invoices β€” don't carry avoidable bad debts into the new financial year

A calm, organised EOFY is not luck. It's a plan made in May.

Let's make yours.

πŸ‘‰ Visit sladebookkeeping.com.au to book in before June fills up.

Incomplete or inaccurate payroll records are one of the most common issues I find when I start working with a new client β€” and at EOFY, they cause real problems.

Here's what your payroll records need to show:

πŸ”΅ Employee details β€” name, TFN, address, start date
πŸ”΅ Wages β€” hours, pay rate, gross and net for every pay period
πŸ”΅ PAYG withholding β€” correctly calculated and remitted
πŸ”΅ Super β€” paid on time at 12% for all eligible employees
πŸ”΅ Leave balances β€” annual, personal and long service leave up to date
πŸ”΅ STP β€” all pay events reported to the ATO throughout the year

And here's what I commonly find:

πŸ”΅ Leave balances not reconciled
πŸ”΅ Super that doesn't match what's been paid
πŸ”΅ PAYG inconsistencies
πŸ”΅ STP reports that don't match payroll

EOFY is your window to fix this before it matters most.

Hot tip πŸ”₯

Missing a super payment doesn't just mean paying it later. It means paying significantly more.

When super isn't paid correctly and on time, ATO penalties kick in β€” and what started as a missed payment quickly becomes a much bigger problem.

And with PayDay Super arriving 1 July 2026, the stakes get higher. Super will be due on every payday β€” meaning more opportunities to get it wrong if your processes aren't tight.

Don't wait for the ATO to find the problem before you do.

πŸ”΅ Make sure your payroll records are accurate and up to date
πŸ”΅ Get your processes PayDay Super ready now

Catching errors early is always cheaper than fixing them later.

A question I hear more often than you'd expect. πŸ’¬

❓ Q: I can't afford to pay my BAS this quarter. What should I do?

βœ… A: Lodge it anyway. And call the ATO β€” or let me do it for you.

Ignoring an ATO debt is never the answer. Interest accrues, penalties can apply, and the longer it sits, the harder it becomes to resolve.

Here's what actually helps:

πŸ”΅ Lodge on time even if you can't pay β€” late lodgement adds penalties on top of the debt
πŸ”΅ Contact the ATO early β€” they're more flexible than most people realise, but only if you reach out first
πŸ”΅ Ask about a payment plan β€” the ATO does offer arrangements for genuine financial difficulty
πŸ”΅ Look at your cash flow β€” a BAS debt is often a symptom of a bigger issue worth addressing
πŸ”΅ Talk to your BAS Agent β€” we can liaise with the ATO on your behalf and help you find the best path forward

You don't have to face it alone β€” and the sooner you act, the more options you have.

Ever heard the term 'reconciliation' and wondered what it actually means for your business? πŸ“Š

Here's the short version.

Reconciliation is matching your business records against your bank statements to confirm everything lines up. It's how you know your books reflect reality β€” not just what you hope is there.

And at EOFY, unreconciled accounts cause real problems:

πŸ”΅ BAS errors β€” GST that's been over or under-claimed
πŸ”΅ An unclear financial picture β€” making decisions harder
πŸ”΅ Extra work for your accountant β€” which costs you money
πŸ”΅ ATO discrepancies that are harder to explain the longer they sit

Clean books at 30 June means:

βœ… All bank accounts reconciled to current date
βœ… Invoices and expenses correctly recorded
βœ… GST allocations accurate
βœ… Payroll matched against super and PAYG records

If your accounts aren't reconciled right now, EOFY is your window to fix it.

πŸ‘‰ Visit sladebookkeeping.com.au to book a bookkeeping health check before 30 June.

You didn't start your business to do paperwork. πŸ“

You started it because you had a skill, a passion, or a vision for something better. The compliance, the bookkeeping, the BAS lodgements, the payroll β€” none of that was the dream.

And yet here you are, spending hours every week on exactly that.

Here's the thing. Every hour you spend trying to figure out your books is an hour you're not spending on your clients, your team, your growth β€” or simply on the life you built your business to support.

At Slade Bookkeeping, we take care of the numbers so you don't have to.

That means:

βœ… Your BAS lodged accurately and on time β€” every quarter
βœ… Your payroll managed correctly β€” including super, PAYG and STP
βœ… Your accounts reconciled β€” so you always know where you stand
βœ… Your ATO obligations handled β€” so you never have to dread that phone call
βœ… Your EOFY sorted β€” with a BAS Agent in your corner before the rush hits

With 30 June just 7 weeks away, now is the perfect time to hand over the books and get back to doing what you love.

Let's talk about what working together looks like.

Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible mums out there! πŸ’š

As a mum myself, today is one that sits close to my heart. Watching your children grow into the people they're becoming is the greatest privilege β€” and the most humbling reminder of what really matters.

To every mum running a household, a business, or both β€” today is your day. I hope you're celebrated, appreciated and given the chance to simply enjoy it.

Happy Mother's Day. πŸ’
