🎣 Garmin Marine Barra Bash 2026 wrap up:
In just its ninth year, the Fitzroy River Barra Bash brought to you by Frenchville Sports Club event has become one of Australia’s premier barra tournaments, drawing anglers from across the country to tackle the mighty Fitzroy!
I teamed up again with Bryan, with our goal of securing a top-10 finish. We landed 15 barra averaging 1.06m to finish in 10th place! Bryan’s biggest barra measured 1.23m, and he also secured second place for king threadfin with a cracking 1.29m fish! 👏
Bryan’s 410 Polycraft punched well above its weight, with our Garmin setup helping us locate and target fish:
✅ ECHOMAP Ultra 165sv + LVS34 in Perspective mode.
✅ ECHOMAP Ultra 125sv + the new LVS42HD in Forward view.
The Garmin Kraken made chasing down the big fish effortless—especially when the charging cord was plugged in properly before shutting up the shed for the night! On the first night, the cord was accidentally knocked out, leaving us with very little charge in the lithium battery and forcing us to use the to Yamaha manoeuvre while chasing fish on the second day.
Massive congratulations to Brandon and Zac from Flukamundi on taking out the win with their 30-fish bag measuring 33.29m, and to Brandon for landing the event’s biggest barra at 1.24m! 🏆
A huge shoutout to Dean and the team at Frenchy for bringing this event together. Bring on next year’s 10th anniversary! If you’ve been thinking about giving barra tournaments a crack, this is an awesome event to get involved in.
