The last few months have been incredibly exciting and busy since launching GippsREC! I’ve had the privilege of working alongside small businesses, social enterprises and not‑for‑profits across Gippsland, helping them bring their impact to life through clear, community‑ready reports that have turned their data into stories they can share far and wide.

Seeing these groups use their insights to open doors to new projects, partnerships and funding has been a real highlight. I’m so grateful for every organisation that’s trusted me with their work, their people and their purpose. The Gippsland region is full of heart and big ideas, and I’m proud to play a small part in amplifying it.

The FRRR (Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal) has announced grant funding opportunities with Telstra for community-based digital connectivity initiatives in regional, rural and remote areas.
Previous work I have done in this space has demonstrated that digital solutions in isolated areas can support access to and keep people living in the beautiful country regions of Australia they love.

Grants available to back community‑led digital initiatives.

FRRR and Telstra are inviting remote, rural and regional community groups to apply for grants of up to $10,000 through Telstra’s Connected Communities Grant Program, which opens today.

There is $200,000 available to support locally-led initiatives that strengthen digital inclusion, enhance community connection and resilience, and build sustainability and liveability of rural Australia.

Projects can include upgrades to digital infrastructure, delivering digital skills training, supporting disaster readiness and improving service delivery. The ultimate goal is more resilient communities, greater digital equity, sustained social connection, more empowered volunteers and staff, as well as environmental and cultural benefits.

The Wellington Shire Council have announced their Community Assitance Grants are open!
Funding opportunities of up to $6000 are available. Pictured below is a great example of how community groups can use small grant funding 🤩

👋 A bit about me and why I started GippsREC 🔍

I’ve worked with organisations across Gippsland who are doing incredible work but often lack access to the data, evaluation, and insights they need to plan effectively or demonstrate their impact.

I started GippsREC because I believe regional organisations deserve the same level of evidence‑based support as those in major cities, delivered by someone who understands the local context, challenges, and opportunities.

My background includes:
- PhD level experience in research, evaluation and grant writing.
- Experience managing community‑focused projects in a wide range of disciplines.
- A commitment to practical, accessible insights (not jargon), that strengthens Gippsland’s social and economic future.
