๐Ÿ’ Interpreter Appreciation Day ๐Ÿ’

Today we celebrate the many experts who serve as the line of communication between people who do not share a common language.

We extend our deepest thanks and appreciation for their role in connecting people and providing access across a wide range of settings.

To all our wonderful interpreting staff, the Echo admin team truly couldn't be more grateful to each and every one of you for doing what you do and always being a pleasure to work beside.

๐ŸŒŸLion Heart Dance Company presents, What The Flock!๐ŸŒŸ
๐Ÿ“†When: March 4 - 8
๐Ÿ“Where: Chapel Off Chapel
๐Ÿ‘Auslan Interpreted performance: 2pm Sat March 7th
๐ŸŽŸ๏ธBookings: www.chapeloffchapel.com.au/show/what-the-flock

Migration, mating and mortgages โ€“ same madness, different menagerie.
Part contemporary dance work, part nature documentary, What The Flock is a one-of-a-kind theatre experience you wonโ€™t soon forget. Equal parts playful and absurd, this tongue in cheek reflection on everyday life draws parallels between the lives of birds and humans.
A cast of seven extraordinary dancers descend on the stage, boasting striking physicality and eccentric personalities. Swooping and soaring from graceful pas de deux to explosive acrobatic movements, they explore the cycle of life from birth to death โ€“ with many a pitstop in between. Hurtling headfirst into explorations of love, lawlessness and late fees; Greenroom Award nominated-choreographer, Benjamin Curรฉ, invites you to come look in the mirror and laugh along.

It is with much sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Marc Ethan.

Marc was part of Echo Interpreting from the very beginning in 2006, serving for 12 years as our in-house interpreter and helping to shape the heart, culture, and professional standards of who we are today. His contribution to Echo was undeniable.

Marc was an exceptional interpreter, a mentor, a steady presence, and a deeply valued member of our interpreting family.

Marc had a profound love and respect for the Deaf community. He approached every booking with pride, integrity, and care, always ensuring Deaf clients were seen, heard, and valued. He gave generously of his time to support and encourage newer interpreters, sharing his knowledge with patience, warmth, and humour. Many of us learned from him, laughed with him, and are better professionals because of him.

Marcs passing leaves an enormous hole not only within Echo Interpreting, but across the interpreting profession and the wider Deaf community he served so faithfully.

On a personal level, I am deeply grateful for Marcโ€™s loyalty, his many years of friendship, and the trust he placed in Echo from day one. He helped build something meaningful, and his legacy will continue to live on in our work and in the standards he set.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Marcโ€™s family, friends, colleagues, and to the Deaf, and interpreting community who walked alongside him. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.

With respect and love,
