🥚 Eggs are nutritious, but they can sometimes carry Salmonella.

Salmonella can be present inside an egg or on the shell, making safe handling and cooking essential to reduce the risk of foodborne illness.

Simple ways to stay safe:
✔ Buy clean, uncracked eggs
✔ Keep eggs refrigerated
✔ Avoid foods containing raw or undercooked eggs if you are pregnant, elderly, very young, or immunocompromised
✔ Cook eggs until both the white and yolk are firm
✔ Wash hands, utensils and surfaces after handling raw eggs

Good food safety starts with the basics. A few simple steps can make a big difference in protecting your family, customers and community.

More than 1.5 million dozen eggs, including those sold in Oklahoma, have been recalled over possible Salmonella contamination, the FDA says. FULL STORY⬇️

Teamwork looks a little different outside the audit! 🍷🧀

This weekend, the Food Safety Plus team swapped checklists, thermometers and audit reports for great food, local wines and plenty of laughs at the Good Food & Wine Show Perth.

It was fantastic to spend time together with our spouses, enjoying a well-earned break, catching up outside of work and celebrating the people who support us behind the scenes.

While we couldn’t resist talking a little about food safety (old habits die hard!), the focus was on strengthening friendships, sharing great experiences and simply enjoying each other’s company.

A big thank you to our amazing team and their partners for making it such an enjoyable weekend. Great teams aren’t just built in the workplace… sometimes they’re built over good food and a glass of wine!

Great day out at the Good Food & Wine Show in Perth yesterday.
One of the highlights was meeting Ted and his wife from Ted's BBQ, Rubs, & Sauces They were fantastic to chat with, and you can tell they’re genuinely passionate about producing quality products.
We couldn’t wait to give the seasonings a try, so today’s homemade guacamole got a generous sprinkle of Ted’s seasoning… and wow! What a difference. It added the perfect depth of flavour and just the right kick.
It’s always great supporting Australian businesses that are creating exceptional products, and this is definitely one we’ll be keeping in the pantry.
If you come across , do yourself a favour and give them a go. Highly recommended!

Happy International Sushi Day! 🍣
Sushi is fresh, delicious and popular, but it also requires strict food safety controls.
Because sushi often contains ready-to-eat rice, seafood, raw ingredients and allergens, food businesses must manage temperature control, hygiene, cross-contamination and storage carefully.

Food safety focus:
✅ Keep seafood cold
✅ Manage sushi rice safely
✅ Prevent cross-contamination
✅ Use clean equipment and utensils
✅ Manage allergens such as fish, shellfish, soy, sesame and gluten

Happy National Meat Pie Day! 🥧
A classic Aussie favourite — but also a great reminder that hot food safety matters.
For cafés, bakeries, schools, sporting clubs and food businesses, meat pies need to be handled correctly to reduce food safety risks such as poor temperature control, incorrect cooling and reheating, cross-contamination and allergen mismanagement.

Key reminders:
✅ Keep hot food hot — above 60°C
✅ Cool and reheat safely
✅ Prevent cross-contamination
✅ Declare allergens clearly
✅ Maintain clean display cabinets and utensils

🥛 World Milk Day — 1 June 2026 🥛
Today is a great reminder that dairy safety starts long before milk, cheese, yoghurt or cream reaches the customer.

For food businesses, safe dairy handling means keeping strong controls in place for:
✅ Storage temperatures — keep milk and dairy at 5°C or below
✅ Use-by dates — check before use
✅ Supplier checks — purchase from approved and reputable suppliers
✅ Pasteurisation procedures — follow validated time and temperature controls
✅ Monitoring — keep accurate records and take action when needed

Dairy products can be high-risk if they are not stored, handled or monitored correctly. Good systems help protect your customers, your team and your business.
