You can't scale a business if the founder is running on empty.

It was a pleasure to join my friend Ryan Martin from Remarkable Digital on his podcast eCommerce Australia to discuss "Scaling with Sanity."

We explored why burnout is contagious and why intentional connection is the secret sauce for remote teams.
I truly believe that sound processes and "thinking space" provide the strategic readiness needed for rapid growth.

If you've ever felt like your growth was getting harder instead of easier, this episode is for you!

My house guest today! 🐍

I had this 2.5m beauty hang out for about 40 minutes today. It was fascinating to watch them do a full "building inspection" of the BBQ and pot plants before stopping for a quick sip of water from a puddle.

Huge thanks to Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 for the expert advice—they assured me the bumps on its tail that I observed were likely just scar tissue from an old injury. I love living in Doonan, but it’s definitely not for the faint of heart! (And yes, the doggo was kept strictly indoors! 🐕🚫)

To my fellow local business owners and Hinterland neighbours: is this just "another day at the office" for you, or would you be packing your bags? 😂👇

Another enjoyable event full of connection and conversation with the Noosaville Business Association community 🌞
Shoutout to The Sanctuary Cafè Acres for hosting and feeding us. Best Mexican bowl ever 👌

Celebrating International Women’s Day and acknowledging the 2026 theme: Balance the Scales.

This theme aligns perfectly with the A Quiet Shift philosophy: trading the daily hustle for steadier, more intentional progress. I believe balancing the scales begins with personal agency — giving women and girls the thinking space and internal capacity they need to shape their own lives, to feel safe, supported, and heard. It is about creating the conditions where we can lead with grounded clarity rather than reacting from emotional burnout and exhaustion.

Reflecting on Friday’s beautiful WomenKind Australia Inc Long Lunch at the Noosa Waterfront restaurant, I am reminded that strength is built from the inside out. A huge thank you to Josanne Falla for her warmth and for welcoming me into this community. To the incoming chair, Annie O-Connor, and the entire Board: thank you for the heart you poured into such a meaningful event.

The vivacious host (and talented local designer) Carlie Wacker kept the afternoon moving seamlessly — it was a joy to wear one of her creations! While The Kitty Kats entertained us. We were moved and inspired by an array of speakers, including Maria Valenzuela, Deborah Campbell, Dr Claire McCartney, Emma Lilley, and Tracy Stockwell OAM. In particular, the grit and resilience of special guest speaker Jacqui Bell left a lasting impression.

To the many female-led businesses who sponsored the afternoon and donated such incredible raffle prizes: your generosity ensures that community impact can endure.

Special shoutouts:
✨ To Lea Taylor, who did a brilliant job of calming some of the rowdier ladies in attendance!
✨ To my GFs—Emily, Annette, and Steph—who all contributed to such a fun-filled afternoon.
✨ And kudos to the person responsible for the fans on the tables; they were a very welcome reprieve from the steamy conditions! 🌬️🍋

On this International Women’s Day, here’s to the women who build, rise, rest, and repeat — and redefine success on their own terms. 💛✨

Ambition isn’t your problem; capacity is.💡

Lately, I’ve seen too many brilliant female founders and leaders hitting a "capacity wall." You have the reputation and the drive, but your internal systems are scrambling to keep up with your external impact.

❗The data confirms the cost of this scramble: 72% of Australian women report experiencing burnout in the last 12 months.

For International Women’s Day 2026, I want to lean into the theme Balance the Scales. ⚖️ To me, that means trading the daily hustle for the thinking space you need to build a business that won't break as it grows.

☀️ I am looking for 3 Noosa-based, female-led organisations for a special pilot project.

I’m providing my Strategic Readiness services free of charge to three partners in exchange for a case study. I want to prove that "steadiness" is a high-performance strategy, not a retreat.

Ready to see the "noise" clearly?

11 years, 2 cities, and 1 shared mission. 🥂

It all started at a workshop in Melbourne. Little did we know that a conversation about professional reputation would spark over a decade of friendship, a joint business venture to deliver retreats in Noosa and Bali, and a move to the Sunny Coast 🌞
In the lead-up to International Women’s Day, Emily Barron- Buyers Agent and I are reflecting on the "spark" that started it all, and why we’re more committed than ever to helping women trade the hustle for intentional progress. 💫

Watch to hear how it all began below.

Good afternoon! It was so lovely to see the 'share your business' thread on the Noosa Community Notice Board recently. A big welcome to everyone who has followed this page as a result. I’m so glad you’re here. 🤗

For those I haven’t met yet, I’m Louisa. I live in Doonan with my family (pictured!). I launched A Quiet Shift to help leaders find their "steady" again.

My career has been spent in the trenches with both small businesses and large organisations. Before leading national strategy and innovation at Griefline, I spent nearly a decade in media and advertising, followed by years supporting small to medium enterprises (SMEs) with digital marketing and reputation management. Having also served on two boards, I’ve seen firsthand how clear leadership and solid systems are what actually allow a business to thrive.

What I do now:
I help community organisations and SMEs move from being "flat out" to "ready for what’s next".

Whether you’re a local trade, a boutique consultancy, a hospitality business, or a for-purpose team, growth creates friction. I don’t do "transformation" for its own sake; I focus on practical recalibration. I help you refine your systems, team alignment, and messaging so you can grow without the wheels coming off.

The goal is simple: trading the daily hustle for steadier, more intentional progress.

Let's connect: If you feel like your business is currently "running you," I’d love to help you find some clarity.

The sense-check: I offer a free 15-minute business sense-check to help you see where your business is strong and where it might be exposed.

I’m looking forward to learning more about the incredible businesses we have here in the Noosa area!

Lou ♥️

Missed our recent webinar?

For a limited time, the 30-minute recording and supporting resources from Future-ready or exposed? are available to watch on demand.

Carlos Velasquez and I created this session for Sunshine Coast business owners navigating a period of significant change — from major infrastructure projects and the Brisbane 2032 Olympics to evolving procurement and partnership opportunities across the region.

Rather than focusing only on tenders and paperwork, the conversation explored what organisational readiness really looks like under pressure — including leadership alignment, capacity, culture, and credibility.

Free access (until 31 March):

- the full webinar recording
- a short Organisational Readiness Reflection survey
- the slide deck and supporting resources

For those who want to go a step further, we’ve also made available a limited Future-Ready Foundations Bundle, which combines the SRL # Diagnostic with the readiness reflection. This is offered to the first 10 survey respondents who want deeper clarity on where to focus — and where to be selective.

If you’re running a business on the Sunshine Coast and want to be deliberate about what you prepare for, and what you say yes to, this is a useful place to start.

Over the years, my work has consistently come back to one thing:
helping small and medium businesses grow well — without losing themselves in the process.

In December, I met Carlos Velasquez at a Noosa Chamber of Commerce event focused on what’s ahead for local businesses as Queensland prepares for the 2032 Olympics. We connected quickly around a shared motivation: supporting SMEs to be strong, ready and intentional as opportunities emerge.

Neither of us grew up on the Sunshine Coast, but it’s home now — and we care about supporting the business community here.

As part of this work, we’re hosting a free online webinar for Sunshine Coast–based business owners on Wednesday 28 January. It’s a practical space to step back and reflect on business readiness beyond paperwork.

If you know someone running a business on the Sunshine Coast, please feel free to share.

I’ve been a bit quieter online over the past few weeks, using the break to rest and think rather than rush back into posting.

As the year begins and work starts to ramp up again, I’ve found myself reflecting on burnout — especially in care-based, purpose-led environments where people give a lot of themselves.

I’ve shared some thoughts here on why burnout prevention might start with strategy rather than self-care, and what it means to look upstream instead of managing things as they arise.

Sharing in case it resonates with anyone as the year takes shape.

Burnout isn’t a personal failure. It’s a strategic signal. Explore how clarity, structure and leadership prevent burnout more effectively than self-care initiatives.
