Leadership isn't about a title; it's a heartfelt calling to place others at the forefront. Being a great leader means igniting the flames of inspiration within your team, propelling them to accomplish the extraordinary.

Outstanding leaders understand the profound significance of teamwork and collaboration, and they ensure that each member of their team feels not just respected, but truly heard. They lead by example, shaping the atmosphere into one of positivity and productivity. They embrace feedback with open arms and continuously strive for personal growth and improvement. A remarkable leader is quick to shoulder responsibility for their actions and decisions, and they stand unwaveringly accountable to their team.

At the core, a genuine leader is someone who unwaveringly dedicates themselves to the success and well-being of their team and the entire organisation.

Here's the bottom line:
Developing great habits can lead to a more fulfilling and manageable life. Conversely, a lack of productive habits can result in laziness and poor decision-making.

This post was inspired by James Clear, author of Atomic Habits, and according to Clear, "the seed of every habit is a single, tiny decision.”

If we chip away at the seemingly small, 1% tasks, decisions and habits, they will eventually amount to an extraordinary life.

While living in Vancouver over the past six years, I learned that the mountains and trees that surrounded me made me feel calmer and more grounded. I would almost feel caught off guard at times by the nature that surrounded me and I'd feel a sense of awe and wonder. Vancouver's beauty was a reminder of the powerful impact that my personal surroundings can have on me.

Then, there's the magic of Sydney - the bright blue skies, harbour, beaches and the ocean open my mind up to infinite possibilities and a sense of expansion. Over the years, I've learned that my work space and surroundings also hold a strong influence over my creativity, productivity, mood and mindset. Back in November, it was very hard to say goodbye to my dreamy home office in Vancouver, but it fuelled my determination to create a new space in Sydney—a place I'd look forward to every day. It was a little like finding a needle in a haystack - but I'm thrilled with my new spot. I was determined to create an environment that would feel warm, calming and inviting, like home. Sitting here in my new space, I'm reminded of the power we have to shape our environments to help bring out the best in us.

Did you know that Brené Brown's research suggests that our armour is the biggest barrier to daring leadership? In other words, our fear of vulnerability and need to protect ourselves can hold us back from taking risks and leading with courage.

If you want to dig into this a little more, here are some questions to consider:

What’s your armour? AND, how is it getting in the way of your leadership and life?

If you're not sure what armour traps you, here are some examples:

Your Perfectionism armour creates a fear of failure and stifles your creativity and innovation.

Your Controlling armour may make you feel more secure but may also be disempowering your team and getting in the way of collaboration.

Your Numbing armour blocks vulnerability and can hold you back from making authentic connections.

So don't be afraid to shed your armour, be vulnerable and take those bold steps towards achieving your goals!

Build Up or Burn Out?

We've all worked with high-performance employees that are shining stars. We give them extra tasks and they excel...until they get overwhelmed and burn out.

Here's a few more stats for top performers to paint the picture:
73% have been asked by a manager to take on work above their position
68% have had more work than others with the same title
67% have absorbed work after a coworker above them left
Nearly 7 in 10 take on these extra responsibilities with the hopes of being promoted.

When expectations fall short, it's a double blow to organisations and employees.

Let's flip the stats and start building success stories by fairly rewarding our people.

We know this one hits home.

The bottom line is that you own your career success and you own the responsibility for remaining current and competitive in your profession.

If your professional (and personal development) are not on the trajectory you'd hoped for, take comfort in knowing that at any point you can take control of your own development.

Success doesn't happen by chance - it's the result of intentional actions. What steps are you taking to steer your career towards greatness?

Being a mother can be a secret weapon for professional success! 💼✨

We transform into super-efficient, unstoppable forces, mastering the art of resilience and embracing the beauty of uncertainty.

As moms, we've developed a sixth sense to spot those hidden needs within our team members. We're tuned in to the unspoken, uncovering blind spots like never before.

As mothers, we've sharpened our ability to sense the collective thoughts and feelings murmuring through the organization. 🌍💬

We'd love to take the opportunity this Mother's Day to celebrate all the others and mother figures in our live. Be sure to tag yours. ❤️
