For residents without a driveway, access to convenient EV charging can be a challenge. But part of the solution may already be on the street: the power pole.

An EVX Polecharger mounts directly to an existing power pole, with no civil works required. Installation takes around three hours, it runs on 100% renewable energy, and for drivers, itโ€™s simple: roll up, plug in and charge.

Designed and made in Sydney, hundreds of EVX Polechargers are already live across dozens of council areas in NSW and VIC.

Council officers: if youโ€™d like to explore how kerbside charging could work in your LGA, drop us a comment, get in touch directly, or let us know here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdq3kNyMvWVOz4wGVlENbyVV2YMhexjPslcyXH-LWrlsHkQ8Q/viewform

One pole. Two cars. โšก

Every EVX Polecharger has two Type 2 sockets, so two drivers can plug in at the same pole at the same time.

That means more charging from a single piece of street infrastructure. No new structures on the footpath, just more access from a pole that was already there.

At 22kW AC, it's built for the way kerbside charging fits into everyday life: park, plug in, and get on with your day while your car charges.

If you do not have a driveway, charging at home is not an option. And that rules out a lot of people.

Roughly a third of Australian households rent or live in apartments. For many of these drivers, the overnight home charging setup available to homeowners simply does not exist. Charging has to happen somewhere else, which means accessible and reliable public infrastructure matters.

This is where we come in. A charger on your street, near where you already park, can make EV ownership much more practical. You are not dependent on a private charging setup. Instead, charging can become part of your everyday routine.

There are four government and power company programs underway or imminent for kerbside EV charging, and navigating which ones apply can be challenging for councils.

The answer depends largely on where your council is located, including which electricity network and state you're in.

Our advice is simple: councils should remain in control of the locations. Work with a charge point operator like EVX to identify the right sites, then take advantage of the programs where they make sense, not the other way around.

Five days until ASCS26. We will be on the floor at Bunjil Place in the City of Casey from 14โ€“16 October. ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ

This year's theme is "Adding Value in the Age of Disruption." For local government, the disruption is already well underway. EV ownership is growing and with it the need for sustainable charging solutions.

What we bring to that conversation: kerbside EV charging that is privately funded, locally designed and manufactured, and built to integrate into existing streetscapes without any cost or complexity for the community.

That is what adding value looks like in practice. Come and find us at the summit.

Our chargers have always been designed to work within existing street infrastructure. Until now, that has meant timber power poles.
We are now expanding to light columns and multi-function poles.

If your area does not have overhead power lines, chances are your street has light poles. That infrastructure is now in scope for EVX charging. The same kerbside approach, the same dual-port 22kW chargers, integrated into the poles that are already there rather than anything new being added to the street.

For a lot of suburbs, this opens up access that was not possible before. More streets. More neighbourhoods. More of the network where it needs to be.

You bring your own cable. Hereโ€™s why that actually makes sense ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

EVX polechargers use a Type 2 AC connection, which means you charge using the cable that came with your car. Most EV drivers already carry one in the boot.

The alternative, chargers with a fixed attached cable, might sound more convenient until you consider the reality. Cables left out in public can get damaged, stolen or worn down. Replacing them is costly, and a charger with a damaged cable is a charger that cannot be used.

By bringing your own cable, the hardware stays clean, the charger stays operational, and you are not dependent on an attached cable being in working condition when you arrive.

Simple, practical, and better for the network long term.

We unveiled something new at Everything Electric 2026: EVX Local Lens. ๐Ÿ”Ž

EVX Local Lens is a platform that puts the community at the centre of where EV charging gets built. You suggest a location in your neighbourhood, claim the site, and provide the details that help us assess it. From there, you can track its progress on your own homepage as it moves through the pipeline.

The people who live and park in an area know better than anyone where charging is needed. EVX Local Lens is how we make sure that knowledge feeds directly into where the network grows next.

It is a prototype at this stage and we are actively gathering feedback. Sign up to be notified first when EVX Local Lens is launched!

One of the most common questions we hear: how much does it actually cost to charge?

The answer depends on the vehicle and the session, but kerbside AC charging is generally significantly cheaper per kilometre than filling up at a servo. And because you are topping up in shorter sessions rather than waiting until you are nearly empty, you are rarely paying for a full charge in one go.

The shift in mindset is real. You are not replicating the petrol station experience. You are fitting charging into moments that already exist in your day, which changes the economics as well as the convenience.

The rumours are true ๐Ÿ˜‰

We are excited to announce that EVX will be exhibiting at the Australian Smart Communities Summit 2026. โšก

ASCS26 takes place 14โ€“16 October at Bunjil Place in the City of Casey, Melbourne, bringing together council CEOs, executives, smart city and digital transformation leaders, planners, engineers, and sustainability professionals from across Australia.

It is exactly the kind of room where conversations about EV infrastructure, net zero commitments, and the future of our public streetscapes need to happen. We will be on the floor to connect with local government decision-makers who are actively planning and investing in kerbside EV charging.

If that sounds like you, we would love to meet.
