This is savings made by your employer for your retirement. Unlike in the Philippines where it is managed by either GSIS or the SSS, you can choose who manages it for you. And the savings are portable allowing you to bring it with you are you change jobs.

What Visas will be offered to successful STEM Teachers?

There are two visas available for a STEM Teacher to come to Australia. These are:

1. Temporary Skill Shortage visa (482) Medium Term (via Standard Business Sponsorship) https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/temporary-skill-shortage-482

2. Skilled Nomination Visa (190)

What is the English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT)?

If you going to teach in an NSW public school, you are required to undertake an ELPT unless you completed all your qualifications in: the following countries: Australia, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the United States, New Zealand and Canada.

The most common ELPT is the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

The test that would need to be taken is the Academic version.

The scores needed are:

A minimum score of 7 is needed in reading and writing

A minimum score of 8 is needed in speaking and listening

We encourage you to watch this video (https://youtu.be/3nrujcxJSNs) about how to prepare for an IELTS exam.

We recommend that if you have not sat an IELTS test before that you complete a practice test. Please note that if you decide to take this practice test this is voluntary (at your own cost).

IELTS will be paid as reimbursement if you are successful in gaining a contract with the NSW Department of Education (please note this is not your teach NSW number but a contract with a school allocated).

What are the expected Salary and Benefits for a Filipino STEM Teacher hired to teach in Australia?

(1) Salaries range from $AUD72,000 to $AUD114,000 depending on experience and position. In addition, there are allowances that will vary depending on the school location.
(2) Up to 5 additional personal leave days
(3) Employer contribution of 10.5% based on total salary for superannuation/ retirement plan
(4) Up to $AUD30,000 per annum extra under the Rural Teacher incentive scheme for those teaching in a rural/ country location.
(5) $AUD5,000 Remote School Retention Benefit (for Rural/ Country locations) or up to $AUD10,000 Retention Benefit (for Sydney City/ Metro locations) after completion of a three-year placement
(6) Rental subsidy from 50-90% depending upon school location
(7) $AUD10,000 Relocation package will be offered as a reimbursement of costs incurred.
